Highly configurable and easy to use, Iconoid makes quick work of customizing your icons' appearance and behavior. The program cannot be set to launch on start-up, but after a manual launch it's easily accessible via the system tray. The help files are extensive and useful, and the number of icon variables you can modify is impressive. Those looking to gain more control over the icons on their desktops will find Iconoid helpful.Publisher's description
From SillySot Software :Use Iconoid to hide your desktop icons when your cursor is not on the desktop so that you can see your desktop wallpaper. Also, make your desktop icon backgrounds transparent or change the color of the text or background. Save and restore icon positions and Hide windows quickly. Iconoid can be hidden or it can live in the system tray. Other features as well. Very customizable. Not resource intensive. Version 3.8.4 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.

Pros: I used it for a short period & i've found very funny even if has not so many features...i expected something better . However it's free & light software , so i thought no matter leavin' installed but...
Cons: ...something strange happens to my pc : screen too often refreshes & , after 2 day , icons disappeared...I didn't find out what kinda problem was only cause i didn't mind keep it installed . So i remove it but that's only my experince : i'm not writin' that's junk software . Anyway is not so precise & hardly communicates with WINDOWS os .

Pros: Pretty easy to use, good customization options, especially good with positions and hiding, adds a lot to the icon options that windows has, and free!

"Best Little DeskTop Icon Manager Around!"
Pros: White Lightening must be drinkin' some of that stuff! Your icons are supposed to disappear. That's what this does and more!!! I've been using this for over a year. Works as advertised. Flawless on WinXP! Not only does it hide your desktop icons ect., but it has "HotCorners"! Pick a corner of your monitor in the settings dialog. When anyone walks into the room (like kids ect.,) and you don't want them to see what your working on, like your financial biz, just run your cursor to your chosen corner and ALL active apps will be instantly minimized to the task bar! This is a very handy little app that's worth your time downloadong and instaling. Puts desktop icons out of sight til you need them with just a click on the desktop. Very good, no conflicts, and no adware or 3rd party junk.

"Are icons hiding your beautiful desktop picture? Try this"
Pros: Not a needed program but it is pretty cool that you can make all your ugly desktop icons disappear all at one time so you can enjoy your desktop picture.It also has several options so that you can customize it to your liking.
If you like a clean desktop without all those Icons cluttering it up,try this. It is FREE and spyware/adware free also.

Pros: It's neat that this program will make your desktop icons disappear, allowing you to see your wallpaper without the obstruction. The absolute coolest function has to be watching them dance around the screen or swapping positions, a function avalable from the system tray icon. It also allows you to define a "hotspot"; moving the cursor here will close all open windows, similar to a "boss key".
