Thanks to this ability, users can create icons directly in Adobe Photoshop, using its powerful arsenal of creative tools and stylistic options. No intermediate files or extra icon editors are required. The plug-in supports multi-format icons, transparency and semi-transparency and allows making icons compatible with Windows XP and Vista. Version 2.1 icon-plugin is free now.

"Not really what I was looking for. Doesn't do Vista icons."
Pros: Simple and easy to use for traditional icon files.
Cons: Claims to do Vista icons, but either it doesn't or I simply couldn't figure out how to use it to do so.

"cant get photoshop 2.1 anywhere-not available anymore"
Pros: havent tried it.
Cons: this is only to let everyone know that if you dont already have adobe photoshop 2.1 you cant get it anymore-its been replaced by 7.0.

"Should be renamed to Icon Plugin 2.1 for Photoshop..."
Pros: Works well in Photoshop CS2. Simple, easy to use. Added to open and save dialogs. Works with PS actions although limited. Power of photoshop and Illustrator for making icons!
Cons: "Ok" function not recordable in actions. Must manually confirm each image. UI could be updated.

Cons: gives me always an error on the plugins file when starting photoshop and when trying import/open a file. To save is the same problem,,, I would recommend to download the plug in from thetelegraph, its free and works for me.

Pros: I like the fact that you can take any picture and create an icon.
Cons: Adobe PS CS let me make two icons and then started coming up with "Could not complete your request because of a problem with the file-format module interface"
when you try to open as an icon. If you try to save it as an Icon it doesn't appear as an option (it did at first then nothing).
