Though Google's new toolbar doesn't offer a language program (yet), a translator for eight languages is one of many features designed to appeal to Firefox users. Some features are truly inspired, like the neat predictive search-term text, spell-checking for online forms, and scads of customizable buttons. We also have to hand it to Google for shrewdly devising a way to convert your Web-based Gmail account into a default mailing address.
However, other features meant to impress fall flat. The word find button and RSS links add little value to Firefox's current offerings, and though we tried numerous spam-based Web sites, the Safe Browsing tool failed to sound any alarms.
Overall, Google's extension for Firefox mostly lives up to its claims and throws in a few clever tricks, but we'd like to see fewer redundancies and more power behind its Safe Browsing feature, especially when other Firefox extensions provide wider coverage.

Version: Google Toolbar for Firefox 5.0
"Easy to load but hard to keep icons where you put them."
Pros: calendar is very useful. Sends email to remind you the schedule for the event. Picasa is another handy tool for handling picture albums. The toolbar let me put Facebooks icon on the bar very handy.
Cons: To get the icons on the Rt. end of the tool bar the insert area has to be made smaller and moved to the left. There is a lot of wasted space at the end of the search box which has the colored icon and the arrow for the drop down menu.
Summary: There are a lot of excellent features that are useful to me. I think if there were five or six drop down menus that contained the icons the toolbar would look a lot cleaner. also by grouping the icons in various catagories more icons would be visabl... read more >>
