Version: Earthcomber USA (Palm OS) 2
"Great Program for the price (Free!). Definately worth trying."
Pros: Free software supported by ads on its website and sponsored "points of interest" on its maps. Maps are broken up by county and the website offers an easy way to find the maps you need. It is also possible to a search range for each category of "points of interest". A wizard helps you select the businesses you are interested in finding during your initial setup and really saves time.
Cons: The real test will be how well it works with a GPS unit paired to it, but I don't have one.

Version: Earthcomber USA (Palm OS) 2
Cons: its free but its not really worth your time. it comes loaded with only one map of manhattan. if you want a map thats actually relevant, youll have to register on the earthcomber website, then download more software, and then download the map. also the first time you run the program it has a popup everytime you hit a button, then you press ok or never show this again, its annoying. its display is very plain and is somewhat slow when zooming in/out or moving around on the screen.

"Fabulous and intuitive- Just like a great finished product"
Pros: I use it with a Zire 72. It downloaded detailed maps for where I need help and it worked great. The developers say it can be used with a bluetooth GPS so that's what I'm going to try next.

Version: Earthcomber USA (Palm OS) 2
Pros: Overall I thought that it was fairly easy to use. You have to know your counties but did not take nearly as long as the previous reviewer.
Cons: no national map so that you can follow the interstate from state to state

Version: Earthcomber USA (Palm OS) 2
Pros: This program has gotten me out of a couple sticky situations. It has decent maps and you can set it up to tell you where stuff is that might be important on a trip such as restaurants, hotels, parks, and ATM's to name a few. You can synchronize the program with a GPS device (which I have not done).
Cons: There are drawbacks. You have to download each county map separately and you have to know what county you are in and where if you don't have GPS. The maps aren't very up to date and get less detailed as you get away from main cities. I have a Lifedrive and Hotsync'ing proved to be a challenge of patience. I had to use the "backdoor" and make my lifedrive wait indefinitely for the hotsync to finish every time I hotsync'ed. The more maps I downloaded, the longer it took to sync. It probably took 2-3 hours the first time. It just kept getting longer and longer after that. It also takes up a lot of space on your device. I'm not sure of the complete capabilities of this program but it is a good free program if you get lost on freeways in big cities a lot. But if you are just bumping around little towns it isn't so great. In the end I took it off my Lifedrive but if I plan on taking a road trip somewhere new, I'm going to put it back on. If I get GPS, I might keep it on.... maybe. For free, this program is VERY good. In general, it's ok.
