CNET Editors' review
DriveSMART forewarns users of impending hard drive trouble, although we're in a fog concerning its processes. The program's detailed, tabbed interface lists your computer's hard drive data as well as multiple system attributes from error rates, time performance, calibration, temperature, and several others. Unfortunately, the average Joe gets no help understanding just what any of this is. Each area is assigned a threshold, and if the system's attributes fall below this number, a failed rating is given and an alert message is sent. Since specifics aren't offered in the help file on how thresholds are determined and our test machines received A-OK ratings across the board, we're not sure if the alerts even work. We are able to schedule DriveSMART to check the hard drive again in an hour and it will monitor your system all day, every day if you need. Another missing link here is a backup tool to quickly save your current settings once DriveSMART detects and notifies you of coming woes. The guys in tech support will appreciate being able to head off system issues with this freeware, but even they'll want more comprehensive information on what's going on.Publisher's Description
From CompuApps:
DriveSMART is an essential tool to report the health of your hard disk drive and can be used in tandem with CompuApps DriveWizard to save the contents of your hard disk drive before it crashes. DriveSMART utilizes the S.M.A.R.T. technology to track the status of the computer hard disks. Its main goal is to detect and anticipate any problems that are about to occur on your hard disk, in a timely manner allowing you to save your precious data. Just as soon as the hard disk state changes, S.M.A.R.T. system, integrated into the disk, notifies you about it. The disk condition may slowly deteriorate; and might not show up for a while as the disk will try and correct its own mistakes. Eventually the drive will give up leading to loss of your data.

"Works fine for me."
Version: DriveSMART 1.11
Pros
Simple to use, despite what the previous posts say. Never had any problems using it.
Cons
A bit difficult to know which drive you're looking at.
Summary
Told me my new drive, under extreme usage, was dangerously close to it's temperature limit. Installed afan and now at safe levels.
