DeXtor

Publisher's Description

From Abstract Algorithms:

The DeXtor software is an image processing software. DeXtor is an OCR software which stands for Optical Character Recognition BMP, JPG, and such image files which have textual contents cannot be converted to text files. An OCR however loads an image file scans all the pixels and recognizes the text and writes it to a text file. A child is trained with alphabets and letters and symbols in school so that when he picks up a book, newspaper, and magazine 2 read he can recognize the alphabets as A, G, B, T and numbers as 1, 2 in the same way the OCR brain can be trained with the characters and it can recognize alphabets.

DeXtor has been trained for Times New Roman Font alphabets, numbers, a few symbols and punctuations which frequently occur in newspapers so that it can read scanned articles of newspapers and write it in a file. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

"Save Your Time - Not Worth Downloading"

    February 21, 2010  |   By ganerd

    Version: DeXtor 1

    Pros

Could really find any other than it is free..LOL

    Cons

It is not a full function program. It is a demo only restricted to ONE font (times New Roman) and ONE file type (.BMP) files. Even then it only will recognize about 70% of the characters.Open only to full screen, Has NO settable options!

    Summary

Like I said in the above summary...
Save your time it really isn't worth downloading.
It is simply an advertisement for the company
... and might I say not a very good advertisement.

    "This Must Be A Hoax"

    May 20, 2009  |   By Suelady17

    Version: DeXtor 1

    Pros

Downloads fast because there's virtually nothing to it. Luckily, I was able to remove the program without a problem.

    Cons

I agree with ISgrad. A big screen comes up and says to double click to open. No amount of right or left clicks will make anything happen. This is a hoax. When I tried to delete the software icon from my folder, a pop up said: nothing to do.

    Summary

    Doesn't run at all.

    "Crapola - program doesn't run"

    October 15, 2008  |   By ISgrad

    Version: DeXtor 1

    Pros

File is small and launches installer

    Cons

Program execution shows a black screen with logos but doesn't do anything - just a graphic page and no features to use

    Summary

I think the program is meant to be a joke - and I don't find this funny
