"0.8.9 was great, but now, has it died?"
Version: Cabos 0.8.1
Pros
it's got a simple interface, loads quickly, and was able to find what I needed
Cons
it seems to be dead, and cnet still lists the latest version as 0.8.1, when the latest version is 0.9.1
Summary
if this program delivers results again, then Cabos would be the #1 applet for the gnutella network. if not, then it will fall into the category of failed apps!

"Love It"
Version: Cabos 0.7.7
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
For the limited downloading I do, this simple file sharing programming let's me the downloads that I want quickly. It doesn't bog my system down like Limewire. First time I used it, it took a while to connect to networks, but after that the search is pretty efficient. -
"Vastly Improved"
Version: Cabos 0.7.7

since the last time I tried it a year or so ago. I've officially given up on Poisoned, no reason to bother now. This one works and has all the features. Just wish I could turn off the confirmation warning when deleting items from the downloads list. Took a long time to connect the first time I launched it but not since. No setup or port forwarding needed, in my case at least. A clear and/or disable button for the filter would be convenient. -
"Nice piece of software"
Version: Cabos 0.7.5

A slimmed-down alternative to Limewire and its ilk. A good choice since Poisoned stopped working for me. -
"Very good app"

Works great, no scamware -
"After a while it sucks down 100% of processor for..."
Version: Cabos 0.7.2
Summary
...no reason
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
A decent app, but after an hour or so of use it starts using 50% of each processor on my 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook running 10.4.10. When I check it out with Activity monitor it says that the culprit is Java, and when I force-quit Java Cabos quits too. Limewire has the same problem, but Activity Monitor doesn't say that Java is the big processor user, just Limewire. This is a major problem. -
"Not bad,"
Version: Cabos 0.7.2

<p>
but many features and speed missing.
<p>
Why are we not allowed to kick results out of the lists (wrong ones, spam, already downloaded, ...) to enhance the overview?
<p>
Only 3 connections? Not enough!
<p>
Editing the ignore list in the preferences is a horror. Don't you have any idea of even one better solution? ;-) And why does Cabos not respect some of the key words/criteria?
<p>
The download list is, let's say it gently, a piece of ****. Check Acquisition, and you know how it has to be done! Then add a search function, and we are happy!
<p>
And when you have enough time, add a feature to the preferences where we can define the standards for (all) searches, like main filter (type, key words, ...) and the opposite of the ignore list, e. g. search only MP3s, and improve the filter, so we can combine more criteria. And a way to restrict results in fact to files that have the search criteria in its name/ID tags.

"Works.................sometimes !"
Version: Cabos 0.7.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Cabos may not be handsome looking, but it does work. Sometimes ! My favourite Gnutella client is FrostWire. Saying that, the FrostWire team should sort out allowing common words such as 'the' / 'and' etc, to be included in the searches. -
"This program is just awful and useless"
Version: Cabos 0.7.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The interface is crude, granted. But when I tried searching I got mostly porn and other useless crap. This program doesn't discern between music videos and movies in general. So when I tried searching for music videos all I got were porn movies.
As much as I hate to admit Limewire is better than this. I'm in no way endorsing Limewire, in fact I'm hoping to locate a replacement for that. But so far no luck. Guess we're stuck with mediocre applications for the time being. -
"0.7 little faster"
Version: Cabos 0.7
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The user interface is still sluggish compared to Limewire, etc. but 0.7 is a little faster than the last version (which fixed the connection issues). If this thing's user interface was as quick as Limwire, I would give this an easy 5 stars.
