Ashampoo Antispyware has been given a major-point upgrade, and there's no doubt that it looks better. But is version 2 worth the $30 tag?
The program has a bothersome registration process required for downloading, something that's unfortunately becoming more common these days. However, it also has a generous 40-day trial period. The tabbed interface looks good and is clearly labeled, making navigation intuitive. The main window shows you Active functions, and one click lets you Deactivate them. The right-side column contains scan Statistics, spyware-signature file version and a link to updates, and quick links to run all the major scans.
The left-side tabs manage the Scans, Quarantine, Logs, Preferences, and Tools. There are a host of features in the last two, from whitelists and schedulers to an Internet tracks cleaner and an LSP Viewer to help manage WinSock extensions. Scan options include a full system scan--prepare for a long wait--as well as options to slice that into specific types of scans such as hard drive or Registry-only. We encountered zero problems when mucking about. No viruses were found, either.
However, there've been numerous false positive complaints, and scans detect all of your Internet cookies as minor threats. Still, Ashampoo Antispyware is a breeze to handle and has most of the antispyware angles covered.

A permanent active background scanner will notify you in advance and offer real-time protection for the computer. Virus definitions on more than 1.500.000 threats are already included you will be protected against. Virus signatures will be updated online on a regular basis so that your weapon never gets blunt.

"After trying several times, I finally uninstalled it!"
Pros: How can I know when I had to uninstall it. In almost 20 years on a pc, I've never had installation problems but sure did with this anti-spyware program. Have had
several other antispyware programs with none of these problems.Cons: It kept freezing my computer and nothing else is doing that. As well, I thought for a start I'd do a whole complete scan and sometime after 2 hours later, I finally cancelled it. Never had such a problem before - very frustrating!
Summary: I use A Shampoo Burning program & it's great. This antispyware program was a problem from the get go. Installed it and my computer started acting up and freezing. That's never happened before as I'm extremely concious about keeping things run... read more >>

Summary: I am a regular user of Ashampoo products. I am surprised that their site doe snot mention this incompatibility, or that they don't have a Windows 7 version ready.

Pros: it seems to do everything that ashampoo say it does it certainly keeps finding spyware and trojans etc and removes them so after trying the product for free
i then bought the full version and so far so good.Cons: i have not noticed any yet.

Pros: Should work
Cons: Downloaded and paid for a produt that refuses to run, very strange as other products run without any hassle.
Summary: Very dissappointed with this product, needs some address in order for it to work.
