"For AOL, I prefer version 9.1. Don't like version 9.5."

August 14, 2010  |  By Steve Brand

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

I like AOL 9.1 as a more stable version than 9.5. I will continue too use it. I switched a couple of yrs ago too AOL free version and mainly use it for my e-mail. I read some of their news stories also.

Cons

I don't like that the CNET search for AOL 9.1 brings me too a page that says their is a newer version and download latest version now. This is also wrong as 9.5 is not the latest version but 10.1 or some other number in the 10 range.

"9.1 was great"

July 19, 2010  |  By wheelnut53

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

maybe getting use to it was the charm

Cons

none, it was just old

Summary

I upgraded to 9.5 and realize how great 9.1 was I'm trying to get back . the tab browsing sucks and the page to change options only shows half of itself the top half, you cannot save your preferences. in 2 hours I come to hate 9.5 with a passion

"Upgrade from AOL 9 to AOL 9.1 has not worked"

October 17, 2009  |  By raymocm

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

Nothing. This has now caused problems and I have to uninstall 9.1 and hopefully get back to 9. Why do you waste peoples time?

Cons

I was told to restart my computer for the changes to take effect FIVE times and It still is telling me to restart. Is this some joke?

Summary

I have obviously had no chance to try the new upgrade because it will not install. So if you want my opinion.....................CRAP

Updated on Oct 17, 2009

Aol has become too slow, causes problems and is well out of date. Time to change to a system that WORKS

I can only access AOL through the Internet because of your incompetence. Tell me via AOL how to access through the usual method of clicking on the desktop icon

"too little, too late?"

October 01, 2009  |  By drumatix

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

simple enough update with 9.0 already installed

Cons

long time to update and with little or no additional features compaired to version 9.0 its just a blessing it works better than 9.0

Summary

since that phone company took over running the UK side of AOL its been a downhill slide with the software, 9.0 has been around far too long and is well out of date, suffering the abundance of running problems that go with old progs.
9.1 has some updates taken from the US version AOL 10 but nowhere near enough to keep it interesting or user friendly, all i can say is bring us AOL users version 10 now !!

"Huge download - wouldn't run (XP home, 2Gb Ram)"

September 29, 2009  |  By Paul Barker

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

Nothing to say - couldn't get it to run!

Cons

Kept coming up with a warning notice to repair - then hung 'puter
Big hastle to unload - wouldn't!
Had to use Systen Restore to get back to earlier version 9.0 - it hogs the 'puter, and slows it down, and hangs, but does basically work!

Summary

AVOID

"Three different downloads locked up my computer."

August 11, 2009  |  By RCUNAN

 |  Version: America Online (AOL) 9.1

Pros

Nothing. Could not get it to work after three sepatate sources of download, starting with CNET TechTracker link to 9.1 download.

Cons

Locks up computer and shows "insufficient space" error message in spite of large free space on drive.. Did not transfer all of my favorites/bookmarks.

Summary

I was a paid AOL user for over 15 years. Went to free service when it was offered. After troubleshooting the 9.1 "insufficient space" error message, I was told by the AOL on-line trouble site that the error message was incorrect and gave me an 800 number to call. When I called it was AOL Accounting who said I would have to re-sign up for paid AOL service to get tech support and the AOL accounting department could not help with the problem that AOL's software caused.
