Waircut, short for Wireless Air Cut, is a free and portable network auditing tool designed to evaluate the security of wireless networks. This software focuses on testing the security of routers by examining WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) protocols for vulnerabilities. Users can check for known generic WPS pins and assess the strength of their routers against brute-force and pixie-dust attacks, making it an essential tool for those concerned about their wireless security.
The application is particularly beneficial for users who may overlook security measures when setting up their routers. It serves as a reminder to scrutinize the WPS protocol and the potential risks associated with it. While Waircut does not offer a straightforward installation process and may require additional steps such as disabling User Account Control, its operational simplicity and portable nature provide a convenient way to enhance wireless security.
