Features ******** iAlice as an adaptation of Joseph Weizenbaum's ELIZA program, in which the various selection, substitution, and phrase storage mechanisms have been enhanced and generalised to increase both its flexibility and its potential adaptability. The main idea is to try to mimic a real person as good as possible. Thats a really though task and virtually impossible, but still I am quite happy with how iAlice performs. The database and algorithms are constantly under construction/development and hopefully better techniques and larger databases will improve the quality of the bot in the future. - Chat intuitively. Chatting with Alice can sometimes be thought of as chatting to a psychologist. The reason for this is that iAlice is an adaptation of Joseph Weizenbaum's ELIZA program (DOCTOR mode) that incorporates a technique amongst others to rephrase the users input to questions. When chatting to Alice you chat in other words to a computer program that tries to mimic the responses of real persons as good as possible. However the task to mimic a real person is currently impossible with current technology and a lot of work is still needed in research of artificial intelligence.
