"Best Firewall Period"
Version: Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro 7.5.1
Pros
The firewall software is licensed to other companies such as AVG, Lavasoft, and Novell (full list here: www.agnitum.com/about/partners.php). It shows something when competitors pay to use this software.
Outpost allows me to have complete customization over my firewall settings, as well as control over a vast array of permissions each program has (direct disk access, keylogging, etc). It's also designed specifically to protect your web browser and system files, extremely useful.
In addition, this software comes with Antispyware, able to perform multiple levels of scans on your computer as any other spyware program does, and keeping your computer safe in the background. It blocks ads from webpages (and Skype) and block the transfer of packets with your passwords added to Outpost's list (allowing exceptions across a range of IPs).
In addition, unlike other security software, you can buy a lifetime license (with updates). And they constantly offer varying discounts on their software.Cons
This is basically your entire security suite besides the two following components: Antispam (which my email provider handles flawlessly) and Antivirus (which does not come with the firewall, unlike the other reviewer said). For me, I only needed antivirus, which I got free with UnThreat. Since this is just a firewall though, those don't really count as cons because there's other software made by Agnitum with those features.
The only two real downfalls are its lack of a sandbox feature and complexity. When you do run software on your computer with Outpost, your whole computer is pretty much sandboxed by default, because you are prompted for each permission or group of permissions you wish to allow an application (default action can be changed to block/allow + notify). That goes to show how things could be complicated for many users...Summary
The way I see it, this is the best firewall softare out there. I know in the past when using my laptop on a public network, it's totally protected me from hacking attempts (through port scanning), shunning any further connections from that IP address for a temporary period. Your computer is entirely protected, even if it doesn't have every feature. Besides, you're still able to fill in those features with other programs.
By the way, there should be an update to Outpost soon, 7.5.2. I'll make a new review on it when I get the chance.
I'd say it's fast, though I haven't been able to compare other antispyware/firewall software with this one on this PC. It's definitely worth it though, as I purchased a lifetime license for 3 PC's with this. Checks for signature, product, and other updates happen throughout the day in the background. And the company who makes this software has been at it for nearly 15 years now, based in Russia.
I do have to point out once again though that this program has no Antivirus like "busybody" said, hinting at a sign that he didn't try this program at all. As for me, I bought Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro, and I'm extremely pleased with it.

"Awful tech support."
Version: Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro 7.5.1
Pros
- Lot's of features.
- Powerful Firewall (when it remembers its settings and not resets).
- Suitable for power users (if it only work 100%).
- USB protection.
- Easy on resources.
- Frequent update (which destroyed my settings files).Cons
- Slow slow tech support, no worth paying for a Pro version.
- If settings are self reset or gone, you are in a pain to "train" the software again.
- Not for beginners, requires good PC and Internet knowledge.Summary
The main difference between Free and Pro version should have been tech support but you not getting any.
You cannot see your previous support tickets, let alone update them if you found something new.
The virus engine is from another company, the only thing is unique is the firewall itself.
If you really want the paid version, download trial, wait until its almost over and get an offer you can't refuse.
Bottom line:
Try Free version only.
