Advanced Vista Optimizer consolidates into one dashboard numerous system-tweaking and configuration tools, from the basic to the advanced. The features cover the bases, including disk and Registry defragging, program prefetching and the proprietary Superfetching, start-up and shutdown tweaks, optimization adjustments for performance, memory, and hardware, an uninstaller, and a file splitter and joiner.
Designed to resemble Vista's Windows Explorer layout, the interface makes clever use of a breadcrumb trail at the top to make it easier to navigate back to any previously-visited level. Below the breadcrumb bar, the main window has been split into two levels. The top pane contains feature information about the tool you're currently looking at, and a static panel detailing current system settings such as last optimization date, available RAM, and OS version--Windows Vista Enterprise, for example.
AVO offers one other feature, a Single Click Care that blasts through both its initial scan and the subsequent clean-up. The start button for this cumulative scan that rounds up all optimization features except for defragmentation appears in the main window for the program, ensuring a quick start. In our tests, the initial scan took about 90 seconds to discover what it considered more than 2000 problem points, and the corrective clean-up took about four minutes. A system restart is required for changes to take effect.
As is occasionally common in these omnitool programs, some of AVO's components could be more thoroughly fleshed out. The Disk Defragger, for example, lacks a progress bar and is not the fastest defragger we've seen, although it is effective. Nevertheless, users who want a comprehensive round-up of tools and utilities accessible from one familiar interface should find Advanced Vista Optimizer to be worth the investment.

"Not quite sure about this one"
Pros: It seemed to have a lot of things going foir it and I was quite impressed
Cons: But my computer didn't seem to work better afterwards and other products are available free to do some of the things
Summary: I would have continued if it had been free because it was specially for Vista whereas other products are not necesssarily just for me..

Version: Advanced Vista Optimizer 2009 3.5.3853
Pros: Does a pretty good job, overall.
Cons: VERY VERY VERY slow.
"Update" will pull a Bait-And-Switch on you.Summary: It's an okay optimizer, better than some, but I've seen better than this. My REAL gripe about it though, is that when it "updates", it will install the new version, uninstall the old version (with a prompt, but who keeps their old versions?) and th... read more >>

"Can SLOW really get any slower?"
Pros: Yes, it can, my computer was twice as slow after tweaking it and optimizing it--Do yourself a favor and forget this add-on--it totally sucks!
Cons: SLOW did nothing to make my computer speed up. I defraged, tweaked everything--I even removed programs (stuff I really didn't need) and still slower than before I installed.
Summary: forget it--Vista sucks and always will.
