This utility acts as a helpful librarian to help you keep track of documents, music, videos, and program files. Advanced Disk Catalog essentially downloads materials from either a CD or drive into an independent database that you can then organize any way you choose. Even when working with our test machine's local drive, we found searching the database much more efficient and speedy than digging through the actual drive. To further aid organization, the utility accurately extracts comments from MP3s, MS Office documents, PDFs, and executable files. Other tools let you quickly compare disks and search for duplicate files. Advanced Disk Catalog, too, can quickly peek behind ZIP files to let you know what's inside. The only downside is you can't browse by media file category, a function we thought would be helpful. Overall, this is a powerful and quick program that should be handy for both experienced home users and system administrators.Publisher's description
From ElcomSoft :Catalog all kinds of media, including floppies, CD-ROMs, and ZIP disks. You can organize volumes, folders, and files into categories; browse ZIP, ARJ, RAR, CAB, ARC, ACE, LZH, and TAR archives; add comments to each file, folder, and disk; search for files and folders using a filename or your own comments (with wildcards), limiting the search results by date, size, and category; search for files in archives; search for duplicated files; generate reports; import descriptions from files; extract descriptions (including ID3 tags) from WAV, MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis files; extract CD information from CDDB; extract descriptions from HTML, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and Microsoft Office files; and check for updates on the Internet. The program has a multilanguage interface (more than 30 languages are supported). Version 1.51 includes an unspecified update that fixes some bugs.
What's new in this version:
- extracting information from own CAT files
- some languages added/updated
- ! crash when importing database
- ! incorrect size displaying in properties dialogs (for files/folders)
- ! incorrect category field representation in export

Cons: No location, no cover printer, doesn't disable autorun

Version: Advanced Disk Catalog 1.51
"ADC does everything I need to keep track of all files on my system."
Summary: null
Doesn't run on my C drive in Win7 compatibility mode set for XP SP2 or SP#. Runs out of memory, according to the error window, even though I've got 6 GB's installed.

Version: Advanced Disk Catalog 1.51
"Great little program for the price but I feel as it's missing something..."
Pros: It's wonderful since it dont eat up your HD with it's database
Cons: The main bad thing is the fact if your cataloging a HD instead of a CD you have to catalog the whole drive first then afterwards you can remove parts like folders or files from the saved information

Version: Advanced Disk Catalog 1.51
"Superb program for those with a large cd/dvd collection"
Pros: At times it can be frustrating finding exactly which DVD has which file, with ADC, you can quickly and easily search for the file you need.
Cons: A single disc can only have one category set to it, discs with a mix of information can't be easily classified.
