CNET Editors' review
The new version of this indispensable product doesn't introduce revolutionary changes, but it doesn't have to. As the low-end PDF reader, it simply keeps up with Acrobat Professional and Standard. This release adds the ability to play back embedded multimedia files in MP3, QuickTime, Macromedia Flash, Real, and Windows Media formats, as well as to submit Adobe PDF forms. It also replaces some of the icons in the default interface with optional, dockable toolbars. You might as well install this now before a Web site you visit prompts you to download it, because you'll need it.Publisher's Description
From Adobe Systems:
Adobe Reader lets you read and print from any system any document created as an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file, with its original appearance preserved. PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as the author intended by anyone with Adobe Reader.

"All of Adobe's Software Feels Heavy to Me"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Works for opening PDFs
Cons
Seems to suck memory and needs to constantly be updated.
-
"Turn off the protected mode to make it faster"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Comments, advanced forms and a couple of features only 1% of users ever use
Cons
Slow if you have Windows 7 64bit
Summary
This thingy upgraded itself automatically on my computer and it became VERY slow. My old Commodore 64 computer came to mind LOADING for half a minute before doing some stuff.
Then I turned off Edit->Preferences->General->"Protected mode startup" and PDFs are opening fast again. Next time they will be better with default starting options hopefully. -
"Worse version of Reader released"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Sometimes it works
Cons
Floating tool bar drives me crazy, standard items like "search" are hard to locate.
Summary
I wished I could get version 9 back.
-
"Total PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! I HATE IT!!! IT SUCKS!!!"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
NONE!! NONE AT ALL!
Cons
Too many to list, but this piece of garbage is worthless and does not work at all. The sick part is how it will attempt to blame your computer for the problem! It''s a shame, because I've never witnessed such a piece of crap from Adobe.
Summary
It's crap, simple as that. Not compatible or acceptable software by any means. Does not work, I don't know what happened because every Adobe Reader before this one seemed to work absolutely fine. I rely strongly on being able to read PDF files and this garbage makes it impossible for me to do that. I would be all over Adobe if I had paid money for something this terrible, and I would demand a refund and an honest apology!! There's no other way to say it, I am pissed off by this piece of junk that Adobe dropped on me.

"It works good"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Works as advertised
Cons
Not backwards compatible to versions of Windows before XP.
Summary
I don't kwow why there are so many bad reviews. My computer runs it with no crashes, runs fast like it should and it DID NOT try to install the Mcafee programs. You people that say it makes your computer unstable already have something wrong with your computer so should not be blaming Adobe for your problems. As far as Adobe adding other programs just download the full program of the Reader and it does not have any added programs.

"Locks up my web browsers and is very slow"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Free, nice interface
Cons
Ever since version 10 or X came out, every time I open a PDF file it takes forever or won't even load at all, it also will lockup my web browsers almost every time.
Summary
Bottom-line is version 10 or X really sucks, I'm not going to even try it again until they release some fixes for it. For now I'm sticking with Foxit reader.

"Perfect example of bloatware"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
You can read and print PDF files with it.
Cons
* Crashes my OS all the time: both WinXP and Win7.
* Takes up way too much space.
* Too integrated with the Internet: Its an application that performs like crap if you're not connected at the time.Summary
Acrobat is perfect example of a great and useful program that was bloated and accessorized to death

"Not the best interface"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
No problems with reading any kind of pdf files; it's good it is integrated with web browser
Cons
Terrible web interface, gets hidden in the bottom of the page, and sometimes "runs away" from the mouse.
Summary
I prefer the web interface of the 9 version (typical bar at the top of the open pdf document)
-
"Complete Waste !!"
Version: Adobe Reader X 10.0.1
Pros
Don't see any. I wonder how could CNET rate it 5 star.
Cons
Once you make changes to any file and try to save it, it just wouldn't work. You would have to end that operation and start all over again. Consequently all the work and the changes that you made goes to waste. It take minimum 4 times to save a file.
Summary
There are certain features like highlighting which were not present in the previous versions. That was the reason why I downloaded this version. But if you have version 9, stick to it and save the trouble. On my part, I decided to for for Foxit.
Takes less space, just 11 MB. Doesn't take an eternity to open the files. Doesn't hang while saving. Has highlighting and various features of Abode Reader X and the convenience of Version 9. Everything without any sort of hassles. :)
