Need to keep up to date? Try the unobtrusive but feature-rich Active Desktop Calendar. Launching at start-up, it displays an attractive three-month calendar view on, yes, your desktop. By double-clicking a day or the sidebar, you can quickly access tasks and see details of upcoming events. You also can display Outlook information and download and connect to other people's calendars via a LAN to see changes in their schedules. The program has a simple contact manager as well. Considering all the cool stuff it does, Active Desktop Calendar doesn't consume much memory.
We did notice a few shortcomings in this generally excellent program. For example, though the window for adding a new note contains a subject line and a body field, only the subject-line text appears on the calendar and in the sidebar. The monthly calendar view looks pretty clunky, too. On the bright side, you can switch among several desktop images and set the program as the default screensaver, which will display several world clocks. Active Desktop Calendar also exports and imports iCal calendar files and can read your Google Calendar on the hour (though not, apparently, at specified intervals or on demand, which is a bit frustrating). Overall, this program's strong functionality and design make it a good choice for home and business users.
Publisher's description
From XemiComputers :This fully customizable calendar with notes, tasks, alarms and contacts provides seamless integration and interactivity with the desktop background. You can organize your data in layers and share them with other people on a local network. The program can integrate with Outlook to show its appointments and tasks on the desktop. Direct connection with Google calendars is also available. There are options for changing calendar icons, fonts, colors and type: one, two or three months displayed on the desktop. Through interactive desktop the program accepts clicks on dates, appointments and tasks. Printing calendar data is easy, in monthly view or as a list with option to choose date range for printing appointments. Built-in address book allows you to maintain detailed information about all your contacts and import them from other programs. CSV and iCal formats are supported for calendar data import and export. The program includes world clock screen saver.
Version 6.3 adds a feature for printing contacts that can either print a single contact with all its details or all contacts in two preformatted templates.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 6.3
"WONDERFUL product for forgetful Grandmas!"
Pros: I downloaded the calender last night. I will be attending online college soon. I also have a lot to keep track of and I tend to be very forgetful.
This is going to be perfect to keep track of my classes and assignments along with doctors appointments and other engagements.
I am definately going to pay the money and register this program.
Cons: I can not find a thing that I don't like about this product.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 6.3
"Transforms desktop from "pretty pictures" to powerful everyday tool"
Pros: Just great to flip to my desktop to see my weeks activities and task list, but what really makes this the "King of Calendars" is the way it integrates with Outlook Calendar - wonderful. I had one very small problem with installation but an email to their tech team solicited a personal reply in less than one hour ... and it was a Sunday! Not cheap but worth every cent in useability
Cons: If only the integration with Outlook would allow entries on the Active Desktop to be synchronised with Outlook :-( ... then I'd pay $50 for it! (Currently your Outlook entries are automatically transferred across to the Active Desktop, but not the otherway round)
