Need to keep up to date? Try the unobtrusive but feature-rich Active Desktop Calendar. Launching at start-up, it displays an attractive three-month calendar view on, yes, your desktop. By double-clicking a day or the sidebar, you can quickly access tasks and see details of upcoming events. You also can display Outlook information and connect to other people's calendars via LAN to see changes in their schedules. There's also a simple contact manager. Considering all the cool stuff it does, Active Desktop Calendar doesn't consume much memory. We did notice a few shortcomings in this generally excellent program. For example, though the window for adding a new note contains a subject line and a body field, only the subject-line text appears on the calendar and the sidebar. On the bright side, you can switch among several desktop images and set the program as the default screensaver, which will display several world clocks. Active Desktop Calendar also exports and imports iCal calendar files. Overall, its strong functionality and design make it a great choice for home and business users.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 6
Pros: This is a great desktop calendar with several great features. The download does exactly what it says it does. The program is small and runs on little system resources. The download gives a generous 42day trial.
Cons: Nothing much to complain. The program would be better if it was free, but not everything can be free. At most, some might not like how much desktop space the program uses, but it does run in the background anyways. I'm making the assumption that if you are looking at this program, you don't mind it running.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 6
"Their order processor is painful! Get Google Calendar instead. IT'S FREE!!!"
Cons: Try it only if you don't intend using this past the trial period. RegNow their order processor kept denying my purchase even though my credit card authorized the payment. RegNow kept "suggesting" I wire or send money orders, both of which RegNow charges for. I had to delete all my entries after spending days on it. Neither Xemicomputers nor RegNow would answer why they bounced my order even though my credit card authorized all 3 attempted transactions. GET GOOGLE CALENDAR INSTEAD! IT'S FREE!!!
