This feature-rich program places an unobtrusive calendar on your desktop. You can quickly access your tasks and see details of upcoming events by double-clicking the day or the sidebar. Active Desktop Calendar supports multiple users, using layers to store their profiles. You can connect to other people's calendars via LAN to see changes in their schedules, and you can have the application display your Outlook information. The utility doesn't consume much memory, especially considering all the cool stuff it does.
We did notice a few shortcomings in this generally excellent program. For example, though the window for adding a new note contains a subject line and a body field, only the subject-line text appears on the calendar and the sidebar. On the bright side, you can switch among several desktop images and set the program as the default screensaver, which will display several world clocks. Overall, the functionality and design of Active Desktop Calendar make it useful for home and business users.
Publisher's description
From XemiComputers :This fully customizable calendar features notes/appointments, tasks, alarms, and displays its data on your desktop through blending with existing wallpaper. You can organize your data in layers and share them with other people on a local network. The program can integrate with Outlook and show its appointments and tasks on the desktop. There are options for changing calendar icons, fonts, colors and type: one, two or three months displayed on the desktop. Text only version is also available. Recurrence patterns work for both notes/appointments and alarms. If interactive desktop option is enabled, the program accepts direct clicks on dates, notes/appointments and tasks. Printing calendar data is easy, in monthly view or as a list with option to choose date range for printing notes/appointments. Desktop pictures option allows you to add some of your pictures to existing desktop background. CSV format is supported for data export and import. The program includes world clock screen saver.
Version 5.91 adds Save & New button to the note/alarm dialog so successive appointments are easier to create.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 5.91
Pros: I d/l this calendar a few years back and couldn't remember the name again till recently. I have added it to my new computer. It is the best desktop calendar in my book. Detailed and precise. Changeable fonts and colors mank it fun to use!
Cons: none!

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 5.91
"Memory hog - and overkill for what I wanted"
Pros: Ability to control colors of weekends, holidays, etc.
Cons: 8MB install uses 11MB of virtual memory - after 8 hours, accumulated 3,000,000 page faults and 16,000,000 I/O other..... all I wanted was a simple calendar to display on my wallpaper - this was like using an anvil when a tap hammer was desired. Also hard to position the calendar - based on screen % from some archaic resolution that would place it off screen (vs. ability to drag to desired position).

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 5.91
Pros: You can recover your tasks easily with active desktop; Export or import, drop in a desktop background and change the calendar color. Only the best for me.
Cons: email integration, but that's why outlook and firefox still haven't mastered the program bugs.
