This feature-rich program places an unobtrusive calendar on your Desktop. You quickly can access your tasks and see details of upcoming events by double-clicking on the day or in the sidebar. Active Desktop Calendar supports multiple users, using layers to store their profiles. You can connect to other people's calendars via LAN to see changes in their schedule, and you also can have the application display your Outlook information. The utility doesn't consume much memory, especially considering all the cool stuff it does.
We noticed a few shortcomings in this overall excellent program. While the window for adding a new note contains a subject line and a body field, only the subject-line text appears on the calendar and the sidebar. You can switch among several desktop images and set the program as the default screensaver, but we weren't impressed by the performance of these features. The images don't stretch or tile, and the screensaver only displays the time and a line of text. Despite this, the functionality and design of Active Desktop Calendar make it useful for home and business users.
Publisher's description
From XemiComputers :This fully customizable calendar features notes, tasks, alarms, and displays its data on your desktop through integration with existing wallpaper. You can organize your data in layers and share them with other people on a local network. There are options for changing calendar icons, fonts, and colors, marking weekdays of choice, and marking dates with notes and/or alarms. You can have a text-only version of the calendar and choose between displaying one, two, or three months on the desktop. Recurrence patterns are available for both notes and alarms. If the interactive desktop option is enabled, the program accepts direct clicks on dates, notes, and tasks.
Printing calendar data includes an option to choose a date range for printing notes. CSV format is supported for data export and import. Finally, Active Desktop Calendar has its own screensaver with a real-time clock. In Version 5.0 notes are upgraded to real appointments with subject field; and a 12h/24h time-format option is added.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 5.0
Pros: I like having all the stuff on my desktop.
Cons: After a while it became annoying and I removed. However, the idea is a good one, but I think there is just so much "attention-space" (I made that up so if in the future it becomes a famous saying remember it is from me) on your desktop, and you can't usurp all of it.

Version: Active Desktop Calendar 5.0
Pros: Lots of features?
Cons: I hardly used any of the afforementioned features (see above). Infact they just cluttered up my desktop. I played around with settings, but could never make it look nice. It just comes across as tacky, and slowed my system down too much. If you want speed & ease of use, this isn't the program for you.
