• Just got robbed again!

  For the past 2 years I've been trying to cancel my subscription. (btw I never use it). Last year, they said I was too late. Payment had been processed and they would not refund. I cancelled the account and was told I would not be billed again. WRONG ! This year they billed me again. Company says I still have a free account with them and that the credit card charge was made for another account. Account was created with a different email. So my advice is find another company because, this one will renew your account without even the courtesy of a pre-notification and once they have your credit card number, they will to whatever they please with it! And they never refund...

  Totally unetical! You think you are signing uo for a free trial. It´s almost impossible to contact them to cancel them. Without warning they charged me $99. Not OK!!!

  They have NO customer service. Billing issues have to be done over a live chat. And the Live Chat cannot cancel and refund your money. No way for you to take your credit card info out. No way to get a refund. So far it has been impossible to resolve billing issues.

  Summary

  10 days ago my credit card was charged renewal for this service $74.99 I forgot I had it. Don't use it anymore. I have been trying for 10 days to cancel my account and get a refund. I called the phone number supplied on my credit card statement. Was told there was nothing he could do. I had to go through online chat to cancel and get refund. I've been trying that for 10 days. First chat there were 17 people ahead of me waiting Second chat there were 27 people ahead of me waiting. Tried again today - did what I was told to do. Followed every instructions they gave me. 2 hours later - my account is STILL not canceled and I still have no refund.

  Easy sync and access to files elsewhere

  Cons

  Only way to cancel account is to "chat" with support representative during ridiculous business hours. Literally no other way. Can't remove/change payment info on their site nothing. Very frustrating.

  Summary

  If it wasn't for the difficulty in canceling the services I would have given them at least 4 stars.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Nov 27, 2015<p/>I wish I could go back and give them one star now. They literally make it next to impossible to cancel services.

  None. Use other online syncing services. Google Drive is much cheaper and better

  Cons

  It duplicates - doesn't sync files. By doing this it makes you buy more storage. Then it will not allow you to delete the duplicates for 30 days, making you pay for more storage than you actually need, making you poorer and it richer, Last and most important, you can only cancel if you have an online chat with them between 10 am and 2 pm PST. And finding that ability to communicate was like finding a needle in a haystack.

  Did a good job for 9 years, cross platform

  Cons

  Exclusion of certain files and folders is tricky, which seems to ensure that you exceed your storage limits quickly. Mostly, the fact that they deleted our archive with 9 years worth of data. They "thought they'd told us" that a payment hadn't gone through, with emails we can't find any trace of, then said, literally, "sorry." after deleting everything.

  Summary

  What's the point of a back up service you can't trust to not delete everything?

• Scam - don't sign up

  It seems to work for me, however other users report problems.

  Cons

  They upgraded me to a higher level of storage just before my annual membership was about to expire. Without warning that I would be billed, they then charged my credit card and billed me at the higher level of storage membership plan. One year prior they notified my that I had to renew for another year but there was no such warning this year, and it seems that they have changed their terms of use agreement online to be able to bill without warning, and I received no notification that their terms of use had changed. This seems to be a sneaky way of signing people up to higher plans then making them renew without notification for another year at this higher rate.

  Summary

  Do not join sugarsync, it is a scam.

• Impossible to cancel account.

  They make it VERY easy sign up. . . impossible to cancel.

  I tried to cancel my account, following broken links, a couple of online chats, but even though the page indicated that the account was canceled, I tried logging in a few days later to see it was still active. I had even tried to remove my billing info from my profile, but you can't do that without replacing it with another valid credit card number. After exhaustive Google searching, I was finally able to find a customer service phone number and a sympathetic rep who transferred me to someone who agreed to cancel the account. The rep assured me my account had not been charged, but then I found a charge on my statement. I called again, and was once again assured I could follow links, the same link that showed the account canceled last time. The rep insisted there was a red button at the bottom of the screen but there wasn't. The cancellation chat is only open four hours a day, and no one answers and they refused to let you talk to a manager.

  Summary

  I am very techy with lots of online experience and I've never been exposed to such predatory practices. The inability to cancel without requesting emails, repeatedly being given invalid links on those emails, the inability to remove billing information, the refusal to allow you to talk to a manager. . . and the insistence that customer service can never cancel an account is clearly designed to wreak an extra year of service from you. There are several complaints filed with the BBB for this, along with reviews on other websites repeating the same type of things that happened to me. Please, don't get caught in their web.

• Awful customer support

  The customer support is awful. You've to wait days to get an answer, which typically is "reinstall the desktop app". If you use to sync more than one computer, get ready to have plenty of duplicate files. And, the day you decide you had enough and you want to leave SugarSync, good luck! In order to stop your subscription, you need to chat with one of them... this is impossible! I've been trying for three days now and I cannot get someone in the chat. It always says they're busy and I should try later. That's a good enough reason for me to stay away from such a 'service'.

  Summary

  Stay away from a product that makes your life impossible when you decide to leave it and stop paying for it.

  Summary

  72 hours before my subscription was due I was bumped into a higher plan, I was not advised of this nor informed that my subscription was due. But I was billed for the higher plan. When I raised this with customer service they threaten to delete all my data if I did not stop with the complaint. I even wrote to the Sugarsync CEO Mike Grossman but got not response.
