In 2024, the platform continues to offer a mix of original series, blockbuster films, and an ever-expanding range of international programming. Hits like Stranger Things, The Crown, and Wednesday are still drawing audiences, while Netflix’s commitment to original films, such as Rebel Moon, keeps its reputation for premium content alive. 

What sets Netflix apart is its investment in regional and global storytelling. Series like Money Heist: Korea and Squid Game 2 showcase Netflix’s ability to tap into international markets and bring culturally specific stories to a global audience. This approach not only broadens its appeal but also differentiates it from platforms like Hulu or Max, which tend to focus more heavily on U.S.-centric programming.

Netflix's biggest challenge in 2025 is justifying its subscription cost. With plans now ranging from $9.99 for the ad-supported tier to $19.99 for the premium plan, many users are questioning whether the service is worth the price. Competitors like Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video offer lower pricing, sometimes bundling their services with other perks, like free shipping or exclusive merchandise discounts. 

Furthermore, Netflix’s decision to crack down on password sharing has alienated some long-time users. While the move aims to boost subscriber numbers, it has left casual users frustrated, pushing some to cancel their subscriptions altogether.

Netflix’s recent foray into gaming is a unique differentiator, though it remains to be seen if this move will attract new subscribers or retain existing ones. The gaming feature, still in its infancy, faces stiff competition from established platforms like Xbox Game Pass.
