StartGen enables Windows users to create innovative personal start menus, generate mobile start page apps, and collaborate across a company with an integrated enterprise knowledge base. Together this integrated product suite increases productivity by giving you more convenient access to your most frequently used information.

The StartGen Productivity Software Suite consists of a Windows application for creating MenuSets (this application), a cloud hosting service for accessing start page apps from mobile devices, and an enterprise knowledge base stored in a SQL Server database. MenuSets consist of hierarchical collections of ten types of shortcuts to actionable information. StartGen menus include two search features that can be customized to search a wide variety of sources including SQL databases. After creating a MenuSet in StartGen, it can be used on your PC as a start menu (Standard License), on your mobile devices as a browser start page (Mobile service), or by other users across your enterprise to manage information more effectively (Enterprise License).

tremendous opportunities for productivity improvement

Pros
Designed to run alongside the traditional Window startmenu, and provide you with a supplemental start menu with far more flexibility. Not sure why the other reviewer criticizes it for always running as that is how it is design. Uninstall is simple if needed. Also not clear why the other reviewer criticized on this point. The program uses less than 1 megabyte of RAM most of the time it is running.
Cons
The UI is designed to run on all versions of Windows that support at least version 3.5 of the .Net Framework. This includes Windows 10. Because of this flexibility, the UI is not optimized for any one version of Windows, but this doesn't affect the usefulness of the features provided. Later versions are available that are based on version 4.5 of the .Net Framework for Windows 10 users who don't want to install version 3.5 of the .Net Framework.
Summary
I use this on a daily basis to streamline my access to frequently used webites whose URL's are long and hard to remember. In particular, it streamlines my access to specific cloud resources.
Not updated for Win 10 and it shows.

Pros
This program never goes away. Its there no matter what. Ah, not such a good thing after all.
Cons
Haven't been able to remove it yet and it used major memory. Wont Stop running for long.
