OpenSync is a server based product designed to perform a QuickBooks sync to and from an external database including Microsoft Access, MS SQL Server, Azure, MySQL, or Oracle. This provides a platform for building highly scalable applications that integrate with QuickBooks. Applications for this replication engine include web site integration, custom report generation and publishing, time tracking applications and Microsoft SharePoint integration.

With the OpenSync QuickBooks sync solution, you can avoid the overhead of learning the QuickBooks API and use standard database tools to read and update QuickBooks data. Performance bottlenecks inherent in the QuickBooks QODBC driver and the QuickBooks Web Connector are eliminated since the sync technology enables you to run your application against a true database server. Forget about import and export tools, OpenSync provides near real time database synchronization with QuickBooks.

QuickBooks sync tasks can be run either interactively through the OpenSync configuration program or in the background by the OpenSync background processing service. The OpenSync service can be configured to run even without having to log on to the machine and can be controlled through the configuration program.

It's FAST. Much faster than other tools like QODBC.

Pros
Within minutes of installing I had my entire customer list (with custom fields) and related AR data into a flexible MySQL database. It took upwards of an hour for some of the other solutions to extract all that data. I then made some modifications in the customer table and within minutes I was starting at the changes in QuickBooks -- I didn't touch a thing. It automatically updates. Cool beans.
Cons
As noted the interface could use a spit-shine. I wish it supported QuickBooks Online but the developers say that's in the works.

Pros
We used this to generate some pretty complex reports that were impossible in QuickBooks. We also tied it into our website to easily promote and provide inventory levels, sales figures, etc.. It just works.
Cons
The interface could be a little bit nicer and the help documentation leaves a bit to be desired but the operation was fairly intuitive.
Summary
Value at $499. Saved us from having to hire a $$$ developer.
