This is a simple, effective, and informative RAM recovery tool. Memory Washer's interface helpfully presents important information in at-a-glance graphs. The program's help file is thin, but most users should be able to operate this application right away.

Invoking Memory Washer's Optimizer function takes just a couple of mouse clicks. You merely use a slider to set how much memory to free. The program helpfully color codes the amount to warn you if you're trying to free too much memory. Click Clean Now and the utility moves everything it can in memory to the page file, recovers lost memory, and then returns items to memory. The utility rarely recovered the amount of memory we requested, but the help file explains away the problem as a feature. Our systems never froze during the recovery process, a glitch found all too often in similar memory recovery programs. It took most of the CPU while it was working though, but the optimization process was quick. You can easily schedule cleaning every few minutes, or have the program automatically optimize if free memory falls under a preset amount.

Included process and startup managers are helpful, but offer little more than Task Manager. Every user with a need to maintain a set amount of free memory or whose system suffers from memory leaks should give Memory Washer a test.

Pros
Nothing, really; for example, I didn't notice any improvement in PC's performance.
Cons
The program crashed repeatedly and spectacularly; when I wrote to customer service, offering to e-mail a screenshot of the crash, I received no reply.

Pros
Although I saw no appreciable measure of change in my pc, it did install easily.
Cons
I downloaded the demo and it loaded my pc with spyware. One in particular was especially difficult to get rid of: 180Search. I had to go to Microsofts web page and install their beta spyware before I could get rid of it. <p> <p>The popups were coming faster than I could close them. It easily worked around my Yahoo popup blocker. (Thanks for nothing, Yahoo!)
