First of all, it will try to install tons of other programs on your system. I guess that's normal for freeware. The password trying process is painfully slow. It takes 5 seconds to go through each try of a password. If you set it to try password lengths up to 6 characters, there will be 613,018,243,116 tries. Any takers wanna calculate how much time that would take? Also, all the reviews above are obviously done by 'their own guys'. All positive comments. All rubbish.

I suppose "free" is a pro, but when "free" comes with being asked if you want to install half a dozen completely unrelated programs/addons and trying to trick you into installing other addons and changing browser settings I'm not sure how much of a pro that is. Oh, yes, and it helpfully shuts down your browsers while installing the software that has nothing to do with browsers. Granted it shut Firefox down by crashing it, and it crashed Firefox so hard that I got the restore tab instead of having my tabs restored as normal, but it sure was helpful that the installer shut it down!
Cons
Installer starts out by trying to trick you into changing browser options and installing ad/spy/malware addons. Installer then tries to get you to install around half a dozen more spy/ad/malware packages, and even if you decline them all it still installs some and changes browser settings. In my case "Binkiland," "Binkiland_WSE," and "Round World" were installed without my permission, and Internet Explorer had its homepage changed to "Binkiland." During the installation process the installer opened up several instances of chrome.exe beyond what was normally open, opened up a Chrome window/tab to display junk I'd never seen in Chrome before, crashed Firefox, and had some installer in the temp folder loaded up nearly a dozen times. Once running I found that the program's "dictonary" had just under 27k words and the "brute force" method only supports 1-9 characters. It also crashed upon trying to run a 1-9 character search.

Program tries to trick you into changing settings to stuff you don't want and installing programs you don't want, and even if you don't fall for it it still does just that anyway. It should be avoided at all costs, and CNet should remove it lest they be subject to civil or criminal charges under the United States Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Also, the rating is wrong. It should be zero stars, but for some reason the site won't let me do that as it thinks that zero stars is no rating.

After downloading Free RAR Password Unlocker I attempted to install it, as I have with similar software throughout the years. It offers only a pseudo-option for a custom install - in order to bypass the plethora of adware that comes bundled with this software - but will NOT let you use it. That's right. You CAN'T install this program without choosing the standard installation which jams your PC with roughly seven or eight separate adware programs -I'm still counting and attempting to uninstall them all. By selecting the advanced install option to circumvent these added annoyances, the installer will not let you continue. It simply brings you back to the standad installation option over and over again, forcing the user to choose it. What garbage. I've spent the last hour picking through my program files attempting to uninstall all the adware Free RAR Password Unlocker has jammed into it. Some of which needed to be deleted with specially designed uninstall programs and anti-virus software because they refused to leave. This is disgraceful. Please be warned, if you install this program on your computer be prepared for the cornucopia of adware that comes with it and seems to feed off each other while downloading even more programs of the same nature.
