Cool Find is a file search tool for Windows. It is designed to enable all Windows users to search files more effectively and conveniently. Anything you can see in Windows Explorer can be found by Cool Find, including the files on PC, LAN, a Pocket PC linked to a PC, and so on. Files within a ZIP can also be searched and shown in search results as a category below the ZIP file. It supports string search in files, including Unicode files and Microsoft Office files. It supports drag, drop, and copy of files, even including those in ZIP file. Cool Find can show the summary info of MP3 files, PDF files, and office files. Version 1.14 adds: The file size can be displayed and exported in the unit of Bytes. Fixed the bug of crash while searching \Winnt\assenmble directory on WinXP. Fixed the bug of locking up while deleting temporary files. Date will be displayed in the format set by Windows. The shortcut key to Cool Find can be assigned to other key now. The shortcut key can also be disabled.

Pros
Loads of features, was an invaluable tool. It can grep even East Asian MS Office files (who store their DBCS characters in a way that standard greppers simply can't copy with).
Cons
Unsurprisingly (as it hasn't been updated since 2004), it can't search the compressed XML formats of Office 2007 or later, i.e. .docx or similar. That alone makes it just about worthless to me.
Summary
Try Agent Ransack instead - loads of features, and includes support for .docx and the like.

Crashes with large files, has annoying bugs and displays filesizes incorrectly. Can search in archives though.
