This software performs various operations on a hard disk and its partitions. The design of the program seems primitive at first glance, but what you see at start-up is just one way to navigate Casper XP. The expanded version of the interface uses the Windows XP desktop organization to make the interface more convenient. The main purpose of the program is to copy one hard drive to another; copying to a CD-ROM is not an option. Other actions, such as drive removal, seem useful. Although it's true that you can perform other actions when removing or copying drives, these will be much slower. Home users who are upgrading their computers would be the main audience for this utility.
What’s new in version 10.1.7338
Version 10.1.7338 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Doesn't work with SSD drives even they claim it does.
Jacko12345678
Pros
Works well with old type HDDs. Fast and convinient, but only with old HDDS
Cons
Doesn't work with SSDs. Copy is working otherwise but you will need to run W7 installation disk to fix lost boot manager after every copy to start your Windows. Tech support is not interested to fix the problem, just repeating old phrase "it works well with SSD.s". I guess their R&D has stalled.
Summary
Recommend if ou are using old style HDDs, but if you have SSD, forget it.
Works. SSD to HDD and HDD to SSD. Windows 7 64 bit.

Pros
Had Windows 7 64 bit home Premium on HDD. Bought an SSD. Plugged it into my SATA II connectors, installed Casper 7 on my HDD, backed it up (live, while still doing work on my computer) to my SSD. A bit slow for 200gb, took about 1 hr 40 min. Rebooted to the SSD. It worked. SSD became my boot disc. Used Casper to clone to another HDD. Again, did it while doing other work, still took close to 2 hr for the 200gb. Rebooted to the new HDD. It worked. Casper succeeded where Drive XML, Miray CloneHD, Windows Backup, and Acronis TrueHome all failed like dying rodents stinking up an Alabama roadway in the middle of August.
Cons
Have to read the !@#$ instructions to learn all the fancy autobackup stuff.
Summary
It works. Haven't tried the boot CD method, mostly because I believe in cloning my discs as a backup so I don't have to wait to get back up and running in case of crash.
Source drive problems will crash everything!
OLDXTECH
Pros
Great product BUT wait for next version.
Cons
They have a known problem in ver 7. If your source drive has problems, Casper will not know and try to mirror to the destination drive. The mirror will fail, rendering the destination drive in a RAW [unformatted]state, thus killing any data already on the destination drive [your prior backup!!!]
They are fixing in the next version. Only solution is to have multiple mirrors and do a disk drive health checkup prior to running. Use Drive Monitor from Acronis [or just buy Acronis].
Summary
Wait and see.
Easy, Simple and Works Great!

Pros
One Click does it all.
Cons
Volume re-sizing disabled for free30-day trial, and you have to pay $49.95 for full version.
Summary
Volume re-sizing is very easy through windows "Administrative Tools" :- "Computer Management".
straightforward program does what it's supposed to do
agastache
Pros
You want to back up your system in the simplest way possible? That's what this program does, without offering unnecessary options that only confuse non-techie people like me. After the initial backup, additional backups are very quick because there is no encryption. You can access any file on the backup, and if your computer allows you can even boot from it.
Cons
None at all.
Summary
If you decide to get this program, make sure you also get the startup disk.

Pros
Couldn't be easier to use
Will save you stress
Cons
Everyone isn't aware of this incredible software
Summary
I have used this software for at least 5 years and always pay for the upgrades when they come out. It has saved me more times than I can count. Even people who hardly know how to use software can do backups easily.
People, hard drives are cheap these days. Get another one and back it up! If your hard drive dies or a terrible virus makes it so the computer won't even boot up, you don't have to worry...just boot to your backup and you will be up and running in minutes.
Cloud computing has its benefits but if your computer won't boot, downloading a backup won't do much good.
This software doesn't just backup your files, it clones every sector. You don't have to worry about re-installing anything unless of course it happened after a backup. You can schedule a backup for every day, week or whatever you want. I personally do mine after doing a virus check and disk cleanup so I know my copy will be working and clean.
I repair computers as a second job and if everyone had this software, well I guess I would have no work!
Beats them all without a doubt

Pros
Easy to set up. Extremely accurate. Fast. Dependable. Solid support, but only used support once in over six years if using various versions of Casper, including the original Casper XP.
Cons
Can't think of any. It is the most useful utility I've ever owned, and has saved my bacon on numerous occasions.
Summary
I like this product because it works exactly as advertised. The retail versions allow copying between disks of unequal capacity. Casper 5.0 handles Windows 7 with ease. I also have Casper 6.0 which handles a Win 7 64 bit OS perfectly. Future Systems is the kind of company that we need more of. They make a solid product, offer upgrades when available, often at no charge, and their products have made my computer life better. I've been using computers since 1981, and I speak with that experience in mind.
Trial version only useful for same capacity drive
climes
Pros
easy to use fast
Cons
Does not do what the wirte up says in the trial version
Summary
Works fine but must purchase product to upgrade a drive to a larger version.
Wish CNET had more clearly explained this before I proceeded with this downlad and wasted my time.
Perfect. Did what Norton Ghost Didn't.

Pros
This software enabled me to move to a bigger hard disk. Norton Ghost tried but was unable. My advice? Downlolad it!
Cons
None at all.
Summary
What's to say? This did the trick!
Works exactly as you would like, does all it claims

Pros
Extremely easy, simple, straight forward, usable on demand, or by any of several unattended copy/update schedules.
Cons
Not a single one. I've been using/testing the program for almost 2 months now, using all of the available means of copying, and it has never failed to do it's job.
Summary
I had used this companies prior program, Drive2Drive, to migrate Win 98 SE to a larger Hard Drive, worked without problems. I had been doing my backups onto a separate partition on my system Hard Drive. I finally 'got' a fatal virus, my own fault. I forgot to do a boot scan, just this one time, and the virus, called sav.exe, aka AntiVirus 2008, AntiVirus 2009, wiped out the Master Boot Record. I lost everything. I'm sure there were means to 'get around' this, but not available to me, and certainly not within my experience. I have a couple of 'Rescue' type programs, had one of them for several years, right back to Win 95, they were of no help, there being nothing to 'Rescue', the Drive contents were just 'gone'. With the price of Hard Drives now being so inexpensive per GigaByte, it makes more sense to have a separate backup drive of the same size, and not on a partition. Doing this requires a program to handle the copy/update function, as quickly, and simply, and if possible, unattended, by schedule. Casper does all this. Just really good software, exactly as advertised, and the Tech Help is right on top of things. I had one simple question, nothing to do with the program, it 'ran' out of the 'box' first try, I had an answer by email within a day. I recommend this company/program to everyone, for this 'job', just no disappointment at all.
Copy and resize entire hard disks or partitions.Casper makes maintaining a backup replacement disk for your PC easy by creating a complete, immediately-bootable copy of your PC's hard disk, including the operating system, applications, settings, and all of your data. If your PC's hard disk fails or becomes corrupted, boot your computer directly from your backup hard disk and you're up and running again in seconds. No need for time-consuming, risky image archive restoration. Intelligent, exclusive automation technologies including SmartStart and SmartSense also make maintaining multiple, fully bootable, backup replacement disks for a computer using inexpensive external USB, Firewire, or eSATA drives effortless. Schedule the backup to be performed at any time, or perform the backup in the background while you continue to use your computer. Casper also makes upgrading your PC's hard disk to a new disk for increased speed or storage capacity a breeze.
