Calendar-7 for Windows

Calendar-7 is an app designed to help you keep track of important dates, tasks, and appointments through a standard calendar interface. The app appears in the lower right-hand corner of your screen with a split interface featuring a month below and an image above, just like a wall calendar.

Pros

Multiple display options: You can customize the display of this app to show one, two, or 12 months at a time. You can also turn off the image displayed with each month, and the calendar shows both the current time and the year displayed in addition to the days of the month.

Date checks: Through this app, you can view months in any year you want. So if you're wondering what day of the week a day will fall on five years from now, the answer is just a few clicks away. Likewise, you can look at calendars from previous years to check dates and days, as well.

Cons

Unhelpful help: The Help file for this app is written in a convoluted and inaccessible way, making the app seem much more complicated than it is. This coupled with the not very intuitive interface make getting the hang of the app a little difficult.

Buggy: You can add appointments and other items to the calendar, and each day with data added has a little dot displayed near the number. You should be able to access this information again by hovering your cursor over the date for a few seconds, but this feature never worked in our testing, meaning that all you could see was that there was some event scheduled for that day -- but not what it was.

Bottom Line

This app doesn't quite do all that it's supposed to, and it doesn't have any features that you can't find elsewhere. It's free, though, so there's no harm in trying it out; but you'll also want to try out different options, as well, before you make your final selection. A Pro version is also available for $6.95, which gives you the option to customize the colors, image, and font of the calendar display.
