XYplorerFree is a program to help you find any file quickly and manage your files more efficiently using a versatile interface. Customize the viewing window to suit your needs, and see clearly how files are connected, so you can organize them more effectively.
Quick location: Through the app's search feature, you can quickly find any file on your computer. These searches are fast, and they don't require that you specify a location for the file. When you do find what you're looking for, you can open it right from the app just as you would from the standard file finder, itself.
Tree path tracing: No matter how many folders you have to dig through to get to a file, you'll be able to see the path clearly outlined on the tree-view on the left-hand side of your screen. You can turn this tracing on or off, but with it on, it highlights the specific branch of the file tree you're working with.
Complicated interface: This program has a lot of features, so there's a lot packed into its interface. But that leads to a somewhat complicated and clunky set of controls. You'll find your way around eventually, but it does take some getting used to.
Convoluted help: Unfortunately, the Help document that comes with the program consists mostly of definitions and not many useful tips to help you use the app more efficiently.
XYplorerFree takes some getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, it's a very handy program to have around. And since it's free, it's worth checking out to see if it will work for you.
