CNET Editors' review
Still not for the faint of heart, this torrent utility is one of the easiest to use. The uTorrent executable adds a directory and some option information to your PC, but it is still small enough to run off an old USB key. The memory footprint for uTorrent is very small, and system resources are barely touched. Our testers found that IP phones were difficult to use with a torrent, but uTorrent's simple button interface makes it easy to pause downloading.
The most difficult aspect of using a torrent client is finding the torrents, but included are both a torrent search bar that links to MiniNova and a handy RSS feed download function. Subscribe to select feeds, and uTorrent automatically downloads files as they publish. Adding, starting, pausing, and listing torrents takes merely a click or two each. A speed guide helps you test your ports and adjust system settings for optimal performance.
Even though uTorrent is now owned by BitTorrent, there haven't been many noticeable drawbacks, if any. Some tried-and-true BitTorrent options are available to uTorrent users, such as Local Peer Discovery and DHT Network. The latest version also includes Teredo and Ipv6 support, and patches a critical security error that has been discovered in all pre-1.8 builds, making this one of the secure torrent clients around. Throw in all the other features, and that should make it the torrent program of choice for novices, intermediate, and advanced users.
uTorrent 2.0 looks to the future:Publisher's Description
From uTorrent:
uTorrent is a powerful and efficient BitTorrent client for Windows. Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in uTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading, and Mainline DHT. Additionally, uTorrent supports the protocol encryption joint specification and peer exchange. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources--typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all.
What's new in this version:
- Fix: never 'upload_only' in superseeding mode.
- Fix: total download byte counters.

"Great program but still just one step behind BitTorrent"
Version: uTorrent 1.9 build 13910
Pros
-clean look
-easy to use, not crowded interface
-great for those who have not yet used BitTorrentCons
-still has bugs needing to be worked out
-not as fast as BitTorrent
-not as upgraded as BitTorrentSummary
Great product in all, but does not yet hold the crown over BitTorrent. Both have same clean look, but Utorrent has some bugs needing to be fixed, and isnt as up to date as rival BitTorrent. STill blows Bitcomet out of the water in my opinion, overall great for those newbies to the torrent downloading world.

"This a beta release; 1 star for that reason only."
Version: uTorrent 1.9 build 13910
Pros
Supports uTP to circumvent ISP bandwidth throttling.
Cons
ver 1.9, build 13910 is still in beta; it's somewhat buggy and not intended for general use.
Summary
Sorry about the '1 star'; it's not meant to comment on the software, but rather to draw attention to the fact that this is not a stable (final) release of this version.
When I submitted my review 2 days ago, the Download.com editors' review was not yet associated with this version. Now that their review is here, I believe, to the best of my recollection, that it is the same review they had put up for the stable ver (1.8) of uTorrent that was previously available here. So, this review still does not point out that ver 1.9 is a beta release only.
Don't understand why this ver is on Download.com, but not marked as a beta.
And with the appearance of this beta here, the stable ver is no longer available on this website (but readily available at utorrent.com and elsewhere.
As of this writing, the stable release is ver 1.8.1.12639 .

Hey, I appreciate the work done here to help sort out all the software available, but would like to see the editors change a couple things:
1) date the editors' reviews and state which ver it applies to.
2) reset the "downloads" and "votes" counters when a new version is put up; the numbers currently indicated are too high to refer just to this recently added beta version.
Again, this is not so much a complaint as an attempt to add helpful feedback.
