CNET Editors' review
Still not for the faint of heart, this torrent utility is one of the easiest to use. The uTorrent executable adds a directory and some option information to your PC, but it is still small enough to run off an old USB key. The memory footprint for uTorrent is very small, and system resources are barely touched. Our testers found that IP phones were difficult to use with a torrent, but uTorrent's simple button interface makes it easy to pause downloading.
The most difficult aspect of using a torrent client is finding the torrents, but included are both a torrent search bar that links to MiniNova and a handy RSS feed download function. Subscribe to select feeds, and uTorrent automatically downloads files as they publish. Adding, starting, pausing, and listing torrents takes merely a click or two each. A speed guide helps you test your ports and adjust system settings for optimal performance.
Even though uTorrent is now owned by BitTorrent, there haven't been many noticeable drawbacks, if any. Some tried-and-true BitTorrent options are available to uTorrent users, such as Local Peer Discovery and DHT Network. The latest version also includes Teredo and Ipv6 support, and patches a critical security error that has been discovered in all pre-1.8 builds, making this one of the secure torrent clients around. Throw in all the other features, and that should make it the torrent program of choice for novices, intermediate, and advanced users.
uTorrent 2.0 looks to the future:Publisher's Description
From BitTorrent:
uTorrent is a powerful and efficient BitTorrent client for Windows. Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in uTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading, and Mainline DHT. Additionally, uTorrent supports the protocol encryption joint specification and peer exchange. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources--typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all.
Version 1.8 adds full support for Windows Vista, support for Teredo tunneling and IPv6, and numerous other fixes and enhancements.
Note: Some anti-virus software may trigger a false positive trojan alert on this program.
What's new in this version: Version 1.8 adds full support for Windows Vista, support for Teredo tunneling and IPv6, and numerous other fixes and enhancements.

"Crash and Burn"
Version: uTorrent 1.8 build 11758
Pros
As this version of uTorrent begins the Download speed increases exponentially, so I'm guessing that is a Pro.
Cons
The longer it runs on you're comp the harder and longer it will take to download nearly anything. As well, it will destroy you're computer the longer you allow it to run by itself. Even if you do monitor it; it will cause a lot of problems.
Summary
Simply put ; It will crash and decimate you're computer.

"Tiny but packs a punch"
Version: uTorrent 1.8 build 11758
Pros
Very small, does not require install, free, no knowledge of bittorrent required
Cons
nothing for normal folks like us
Summary
Like I said, I love this program for it's small size. It doesn't require install, easy to setup (click, and you're good to go), you can customize the max download/upload speed to not clog up your bandwidth, it has auto scheduling, can auto-shutdown when done downloading, and doesn't drain your CPU resource.
The most user-friendly torrent client you'll find. -

"!.8 causes problems - going back to 1.7.7"
Version: uTorrent 1.8 build 11758
Pros
utorrent is best app IMHO as it has all the features you need, provides for very fast downloads via trackers and DHT, and has an amazing small footprint - about 10Mb on Windows 2000.
Cons
This version seems to have introduced some problems, so much so that seedmore.org is banning it
There is now a poorly implemented attempt to enforce minimum upload/download ratios.Summary
I am forced to revert to 1.7.7 so that I can use the seedmore tracker. (see http://www.seedmore.org/home/hideout_posts_show.php?pst=83).
Also, I like to configure uploads as I see fit to distribute bandwidth in the most useful way, not having it forced on me. I think the intent is good, but the implementation is very poorly executed. (see http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=44046) -
"Not so great on Vista"
Version: uTorrent 1.8 build 11758
Pros
Light weight, easy to use
Cons
Slow d/l speeds
DHT connection drops out
Even though it shows theres plenty of seeders (eg 5000 seeders) it only connects to severalSummary
My system is:
Centrino Core2Duo 1.83GHz
2GB DDR
Windows Vista Home Premium
ISP is TPG ADSL2+ Melbourne, Australia
Netcomm NB9W ADSL2+ Wireless Modem/Router
I have to admit, I've never used utorrent on my Windows XP computer before, simply because bitlord is still working great. Now to my use on my Vista laptop.
It only connects to a few peers out of possible thousands so its hard to reach download speed of over 50kB/s. I installed bitcomet to download the same torrents and connected to a lot more peers to download at a rate of about 200 kbps.
Theres something wrong with the DHT connecting. Maybe due to the fact that everytime I connect to the internet, my ip address changes. I made settings to NAT on my modem so that utorrent has a port to connect through, so when the DHT does connect, connection speed is slightly better, but no where near what bitcomet can achieve.
The UI is somewhat easier to use and understand than bitcomet, but only slightly better. So far features wise, what utorrent can do, bitcomet can also do. -
"The only torrent client I use."
