Version: multiDesk 2001 2001 beta
"Sufficiently good, but not the best"
Pros: It's simple and light. Sufficiently good as a virtual desktop manager if you're not looking for fancy features.
Cons: Try Virtual Desktop Manager from Windows Powertoys, it integrates better with Windows XP(I've not tried it with other OSes) and it is equally efficient (if not better).

Version: multiDesk 2001 2001 beta
Pros: If you are NOT looking for 99 features, just want a simple multi-desktop env, this is the one for you. You can easily switch between the virtual desktops, move windows around, use the sticky window feature.
Cons: I can't get "Enable sound" and "Show Desktop" features working. But IMHO, these are not important.
The latest version, 2.1b, has way less flexibility, and it doesn't do what it is supposed to most of the time. I reinstalled this version, and I am happy again.

Version: multiDesk 2001 2001 beta
"very good, but dexpot is better"
Pros: I've used multidesk for years, and been very happy with it; It's user interface (using hotkeys) was exactly how I wanted to operate.
Cons: I've repeatedly and ramdomly put up with a problem where if I had IE runing on one desktop, and switched to another and started another IE, and then switched someplace else, all the IE windows would go away. Now for some reason other windows are getting lost (outlook, pidgen) and even though there might be a tray icon for them, they won't open up.
There have been other times where I wanted one more virtual desktop - why does multidesk limit you to 9 - why not 10? 20?
I've switched to dexpot and haven't had any of these problems, and can now have up to 20 desktops, and can easily configure the hotkeys the way I want them.
