Publisher's Description
From Apple:
iTunes, the award-winning digital jukebox software, is now available for Mac and Windows. The iTunes Music Store offers Windows users the same online music store that Mac users love, with the same music catalog, the same personal-use rights, and the same 99-cents-per-song pricing. With music from all five major music companies and more than 200 independent labels, the iTunes Music Store catalog is growing every day and will offer more than 400,000 songs by the end of October. iTunes for Windows includes all the same great features that made it the best digital jukebox software for the Mac--a free download with no hidden charges for extra features, MP3- and pristine-quality AAC-encoding from audio CDs, smart playlists, more than 250 free Internet radio stations, and the ability to burn custom playlists to CDs and MP3 CDs, burn content to DVDs to back up an entire music collection, and share music via Rendezvous over any network, cross-platform.

"Tried to like it. Downgraded iTunes 11 to iTunes 6."
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.3
Pros
Free. Has Bonjour and Airplay.
Cons
Too complicated.
Summary
iTunes used to be a simple program. That is what always drew me to it. Each upgrade adds just a little more. Those little mores add up to a lot. Downgrade to iTunes version 6 and relive the glory days when Apple was king.

"Horrible UI"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
Still trying to find one...
Cons
Apple needs to find new UX/UI designers this is HORRIBLE. What moron put buttons all over the 4 corners of the screen. Not to mention this is probably the most un-user friendly UI I've EVER used.
Summary
I love Apples products and I'm hoping they fire whatever moron is the Product Manager over iTunes and get someone new.

"Clunky, inelegant and buggy...just like CNET's page"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
None. Feels like a first iteration demo that should not have escaped the lab.
Cons
Clunky and slower than old iTunes (where does CNET get that it's faster and smoother. I did some timed tests of uploads and information changes to files, and it's either exactly the same speed as the old one or slower. Interface makes it hard to navigate or figure out where what you want is. The left-panel file hierarchy is SORELY missed. Controls are too small and there's no easy way to get back to the album that's playing once you scroll away from it. Seems to have been made more for DJs and people who download and play individual tracks than people who want to organize whole albums.
Summary
Awful. And you can't revert to the old one! Apple, since Jobs died you suck really bad. You'll be Microsoft in five years and 3Com or HP in ten.

"SUCKS AND DANGEROUS TO NO END -- REMINDS ME OF DOS 1.0"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
Can download and play music/podcasts. Wowy, I can do that from the web or using many other applications. lame.
Cons
Let's see--where should I start? It's not intutive. The interface is completely unfriendly. There are no confirmations before it deletes or updates anything. The autosync actually wiped out my data. I'm a professional and therefore i know better than to not back up. so i back up at least once a week. Updating the software wiped out ALL MY DATA = notes, messages, voicemails, 5 months worth of contacts, etc. It causes more harm than any good that it can bring.
Summary
THE MOST UNRELIABLE AND MISERABLE PROGRAM ON EARTH.

"Please no hiding controls"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
Seems to work just fine
Cons
The controls in the mini version of the music player is very annoying. every so often I will try and stop or play music and the controls fail to pop up. I just move and hover back and they pop up but I foresee it not coming up again. I don't hide my dock for that same reason

"Terrible "update""
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
It plays music.
Cons
Terrible "update" sacrifices user experience on the alter of directing music consumers to download from appStore and iTunes Music Store.
Interface is confusing and clunky... Apple even went so far as to remove the ability to simply view one's Library and its corresponding file structure and hierarchy.
I am spending my two hours of free time this evening downgrading... yeah, because Apple won't let you downgrade.Summary
Apple used to be about making user experience flow along the lines of "it just works". Unfortunately, now it flows along the lines of "it will just work the way we want it to."
In the 80's, 90's and early 2000's they did a lot of elegant work dealing with the accessibility of file structure and system parameters that allowed for a truly sublime workflow. Alas, now they have lost their way and sacrifice their wonderful UI to the cloud wars between themselves, facebook, and google.
Too bad, they could have won by choosing not to participate but building in superior support for competitors services. They are shooting themselves in the foot by trying to take so much control. You can see it in the way their iOS 6 works, how Mac OS Lion functions, and the way that this new terrible iTunes behaves.
I'm going to go buy some late 2011 Apple products with Snow Leopard, and iPhone 4s hacked to run iOS 4, and iTunes 10.7 and try to live in personal computing's apex as long as possible. Eventually, we will all be dragged kicking and screaming into a world of reduced expectations in computing as computers move from being devices used to create content to one used to consume it. -
"Causes Device Error #19"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
Allows users to easily download and use content (Primarily music).
Cons
Can cause Device Error #19 which will prevent you from using your disc drive. In addition, sign-up is a hassle and uninstalling the program is more of a challenge than it should be.
Summary
I was not a fan of Apple to begin with, but I honestly expected a lot more from this program.
In order to download something, I had to register an account. When I signed up, I was REQUIRED to enter in my billing information. I could not find an option to skip this.
Soon after installing the program and purchasing something, I found that my disc drive would not function. After further research and clicking around in the Control Panel, I found that there was a registry error (Device Error #19). After even more research, I found that iTunes was the cause; just as I had suspected the entire time.
Uninstalling turned out to be a tad harder than it should have been. In order to uninstall, I had to run the original installer; this shouldn't be necessary. All of my other programs have an uninstaller included in their "All Programs" folder. iTunes was the only exception. This might not seem like a big deal, but what if I hadn't tried running the installer? My only other option would have been to manually remove the program's directory and registry keys, which could be rather dangerous.
When the program was finally uninstalled and I restarted my computer, the disk drive worked fine again. Now, let's imagine someone far from "Tech-Savvy" that is experiencing the same issue with uninstalling. What would happen then? They would most likely either buy a new one entirely, send it to some kind of repair shop, or simply deal with the issue. Imagine a computer without a disc drive.
Overall, I don't even care to try and see if there is anything good about iTunes anymore. A program that breaks the drivers for my disc drive is beyond useless and horrible in my opinion. I am never going to install iTunes again. Period. -
"IT IS TOTALLY S%&T"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2

"I HATE THIS VERSION"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
THERE ARE NO PROS-IT'S EXTREMELEY DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE, AND WORK.
Cons
EVERYTHING ON IT SUCKS. PLEASE TRY AGAIN. ALWAYS SAYS PLUGINS AREN'T WORKING NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TAKE IT OFF AND UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL. I HAVE VERY UP TO DATE SOFTWARE AS WELL AS A GOOD COMPUTER. BUT, I SIMPLY CANNOT MANAGE WORKING THIS VERSION OF ITUNES.

"Corrupted my music library"
Version: iTunes for Windows 11.0.2
Pros
I haven't found any.
Cons
Upgraded to 11.02 on Windows from an earlier version of iTunes which worked fine. Unfortunately the new version has lost many files (which are still present on the hard drive) and I will have to rebuild the music library. Really? This is an upgrade? It also seems to have less functionality.
Summary
Don't upgrade if you can avoid it. It doesn't work correctly and is less useful than older versions.
