From iInventory :iInventory (previously 'LANauditor') lets you capture hardware & software inventory and registry keys without having to leave your desk. Collect the hardware and software configuration of all PCs on your network with one or two clicks. Use iInventory to check software license compliance, to create and maintain accurate hardware inventory, or run pre-rollout OS, hardware, and software analysis. Identify user file abuse (finds MP3, AVI, and any other file extension) and provide system data to an IT help desk. The open database format allows you to work directly with your inventory data in MS Access, MSDE, or SQL Server database formats.
Version 7.0.1.12 collects more information and also includes several useful background enhancements.

"Good product and good support too"
Pros: Easy to work out how to use most features, however one or two I was stuck on, emailed support & they replied quickly to my questions, impressive!
Cons: Wish it had support for MySQL databases

"Full marks for this product and its support team!"
Pros: I needed cross platform functionality for inventorying our mixed Windows and Mac environment. Not much out there met this criterion, but this software does an excellent job for us. Reports flexibility is great, and their support is right on the ball.
Cons: Nothing to say. so far.

Pros: Scanned all my colleagues PCs from my desk, collected a lot of info.
Cons: Installs on Windows only, can scan Macs but can't be installed on them.
