easyMute offers a very cool way to automatically silence your phone -- just place your hand over it and it works like magic. It saves you from bumbling with your phone to turn off the volume or unplugging your earbuds when someone suddenly wants to talk to you. Your friends and family will be sincerely impressed when you show them how this app works.
When this application is turned on, you can mute your music player just by holding your hand over your phone. You don't even have to touch it, and the phone's screen doesn't have to be on for the app to work. It doesn't notice every music or video player out there, but we tested it with Google Music and Spotify and both worked very well. Your phone does have to have a proximity sensor for the trick to work, but most Androids come with that standard. During our tests, we noticed that the app usually only worked when our phone was on a flat surface, but this is something you can change from easyMute's Settings menu. You can also change whether the app works with just headphones or if it works with your phone or tablet's built-in speaker, as well.
easyMute is worth downloading at least once just to see the neat trick in action. It will wow most people when they first see that it actually works. Outside of that, this application has some usefulness if you listen to your phone while you're at work or in a group setting. It saves you the trouble of juggling with your phone to mute it. If there were a criteria for originality, we would definitely give it five stars.
* IMPORTANT NOTE for Samsung Galaxy S3 (and maybe other devices) - If your device has any option to disable sensors (in S3 Settings > Motion) it should be enable for the app to work. Disabling it may render easyMute useless since no sensor readings will be triggered!!!Have you ever been listening music with your headphones while youre working or studying, and suddenly someone comes and talks to you, making you unlock your phone and pause the music to be able to hear him? Or having to take out your headphones? This little application allows you to control the music pause or volume by only putting your hand over your phone.YOU DONT EVEN NEED to unlock your phone, just put your hand over it and the music volume will drop allowing you to hear! EVEN WITH THE SCREEN TURNED OFF!Your phone needs to have a proximity sensor for this application to work. If youre not sure if it does, just download and try it, its free!Compatible with Android 2.1 (Froyo) and on.Recent changes:v1.04- The service is now restarted when some of the critical settings are changed if it was running, this will avoid erratical behavior when this happened having to restart the service manually.- Added a status text in the main screen, so the user can see clearly what's happening.
