If you're looking for a flexible, feature-intensive media player, try Zoom Player Standard. The lightweight program works with most Windows operating systems. It will not take over your system and has a configurable onscreen display. The program is written with extensive playlist capabilities, and even supports Unicode filenames. The Media playback mode prevents filter conflicts on all system setups, even those running on a bad install. Zoom Player is the ultimate in freeware. The publisher even provides great support via a linked Web site. The only feature missing is DVD support, which is available in Zoom Player Professional. The program suits those looking for an efficient, stable media player.

  Pros: Zoomplayer comes with a lot of codecs and allows you to play everything. I highly recomend it.

  "Even better than Winamp!"

  Pros: Plays more formats, Highly configurable, and has it's own codec downloader.

  Cons: Doesn't let me control the volume in audio mode with the keyboard without clicking on it's tray icon first.

  "Solid all around video player."

  Pros: It downloads all the video codecs you need. You can speed up video playback (good for watching lectures).

  Cons: None that I can tell.

  Summary: I've been using this program for over 1.5 years. It's a solid video player that plays every video format that i've tried except DVD video (Matroska, Xvid, AVI, etc.).

  "WILL NOT PLAY DVDs. Prompts you to BUY in order to play"

  Pros: Nothing good about this software! Absolutely nothing!

  Cons: When trying to play a DVD, this "FREE" software will open a browser and tells you that in order to play a DVD, you have to PAY for the REAL software!

  Summary: This is not free! A browser opens up and asks to to PAY in order to play DVDs. Noth worth the download!!!
