The Bryce website doesn't work. I entered a username and password and never got a confirmaton email. Contacted their help desk and they couldn't help me unless I was logged on. Can't log on because I never got the email. The old catch-22. Upshot: No serial number, no Bryce 5.5

Once it starts working, you cant stop the imagination.

It requires a code in order to complete the installation. It even gives the site to get the free code from. On that site once i go, i cant find it. So i guess im pretty confused.

Summary
First, it was posted ages ago that you could not fully install the program because of a serial code that is asked for during installation. If you read the box very carefully (ALWAYS read pop-ups during installation) the URL where to get the serial code is provided and is as of today's date, still working. Second, for less then $30 you can upgrade from this free version to the newest version available.
Bryce 5.5 give it try, because it's Great!!

I have used Bryce 5.0/5.5 since 2007 and it works great most of the time and it is a fantastic tool for art and render speeds can be increased. Plus you can render at large resolution with almost no limit, except for file space on your computer.
Cons
For me 5.5 was unstable but this could be due to running on an older slower machine.
Summary
I have used Bryce 5.0 since 2007 and later 5.5, but I primarily use 5, but 5.5 is unstable on my computer, I guess because it isn?t the newest of computers . The program is really great and wonderful to use it allows for an infinite amount of diversity, and to speed up renders just use that task manger and apply and click high for Bryce it dramatically speeds up. When downloaded be sure to tell some one , because it is ?tellware?:) . Their isn't to much difference from 5.0 to 5.5 Download it and give it a try it won't let you down, plus 5.5 renders faster than the old one.
