This program is designed to read your e-mails aloud, but several program errors and limitations eliminate its effectiveness. Yarrow Mailer's bland interface basically displays e-mails from a few e-mail applications including Outlook Express. The program quickly retrieves e-mails from the message source you choose. Users first pick which fields the program reads and, after a simple click, the material is read to you in a classic computer-generated voice. In our tests Yarrow Mailer reads only the initial letter of the text from each field. The quality of the sole voice offers no warmth or intonation. The program was flooded with several errors, from improperly identifying remaining testing days to numerous address-access violations. The ability to save audible text as audio files is not available in the demo version. The very sparse online help file offers no aid to novices or advanced users. Yarrow Mailer simply sports too many program errors to be considered useful.
