The Yahoo! Widget Engine (formerly known as Konfabulator) is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather.
What sets Yahoo! Widget Engine apart from other scripting applications is that it takes full advantage of today's advanced graphics. Toss in some sliding and fading, and these little guys are right at home in Windows XP and Mac OS X.

Downloaded to use cnet Bandwith Meter which reports my 15 MB service as a 123 kbps, but my download speeds are much greater. Unimpressive, most unimpressive.

Been using this widget engine for years on windows and MAC.
works well on both platforms.Cons
Kind of redundant on light of built in widget engines. But I like some of the Yahoo widgets better than MAC and certainly Windows implementations, but in some ways the OS widgets are better than Yahoo.

Good to better than OK widget engine. Excels in some respects, does not in others. Overall very good.

It functions just like the Windows version. Having only been a recent convert to Mac, I'm not fond of the dashboard, only because I am used to having my widgets and windows gadgets directly on screen, not having to hit something to make it come up.
Cons
If you're a die-hard Mac user who's never used Windows much, you may not like this...

It serves an important function. I hate having outdated software.

I will come on every time you log into you computer unless you set it otherwise. Especially if there is updates you opt not to down load.
