From Tradery :With its enhanced features and performance, the new version of the Yahoo Quotes Downloader (YQD) can be used by traders and investors to automate the acquisition of historical quotes for any number of symbol lists. Features include: multiple simultaneous connections for fast downloads, downloading of Nasdaq, NYSE, and Amex symbol lists from Nasdaq.com, retrieving a range or all available data, full download or update, optional split and dividend adjusted data, different bar durations (daily, weekly, monthly), data validation, several data formatting options (US or European date format, bar sorting order), activity and error logging, control over the generated data files structure, command line parameters for fully automated downloads using Windows Scheduler tasks. The free User version is limited to 100 symbols, 1 connection and no command line automation. The Pro version removes these limitations. Version 2.2.3.2 adds options for fine tuning of invalid data handling, fixes API to work with different versions of Visual Basic (Excel, Visual Studio).

"Best historical stock data downloader I have found"
Pros: I love it. I have spent a great deal of time searching for a good historical stock data downloader that just gets the data. I have tried many. This is by far the best value for money I have found. It does the job fast. It takes a little configuration at first, but once it is set up it downloaded the data for 9,000 symbols in 4 minutes. As another reviewer mentioned, the software developer provides excellent customer support.
Cons: Getting the symbol lists takes a little figuring out - you really have to follow the documentation and need some computer knowledge. It would be nice if the symbol list set up was GUI.
