This small utility creates desktop icons for quick access to basic shutdown operations and Windows' Disk Defrag and Chkdsk, though it offers no other features or capabilities. As soon as XP Shortcuts installs, you'll find four new desktop icons for Shutdown, Restart, Standby, and Disk Maintenance, which offers three shortcuts for defragging drives or checking them for errors. In testing everything worked with the exception of the error checker, which prompted a window saying Chkdsk couldn't be run. You can't add new shortcuts or modify the ones the program creates, except to delete them. Though this program doesn't do much, it's free, and any user wanting slightly quicker access to some basic computer functions might find it worth a download.

Also, there are shortcuts for faster disk defragmenting and error-checking. Version 2 includes information on how to create keyboard shortcuts.
