While you may need a player for Windows Media, this is probably not the program you want. It features a brushed metal Aqua interface and complies only with older Windows Media files (this app was released in 2003), but the video quality is not what Mac people are used to. When you move the playback window, quality degrades. What's worse, this free program wants an administrator password when you install it. Although Windows Media files are smaller than some popular alternatives, this particular player is strictly for those who have no other option. VLC Media Player is a much better choice.Publisher's description
From Microsoft :Sporting a new brushed steel skin for Apple's newest operating system, this new version of our player opens the world of Windows Media 9 content to Macintosh users, enabling them to access the best audio and video on the Web. New plug-in support added for Internet Explorer, Netscape and Safari enables playback of Windows Media files right from the browser.

Version: Windows Media Player 9.0
Pros: It matches the native Mac interface...
Cons: ALL it does is play Windows Media and that's it. No AVI, MPEG, MP3, NOTHING. I don't even think it plays those files in Safari or any other web browsers either. It's quite a waste.

Version: Windows Media Player 9.0
"Absolute crap - sums up Windows!"
Pros: You can move it to the trash simply enough!
Cons: This is absolute rubbish and if it is windows' showcase for the mac there it certainly wont have users switching any time soon! Don't download it as it will just quit on opening. This means that many streaming files are impossible to view. I also had difficulty with the installer just hanging. When visiting this site I realised that I wasn't the only one!
