This updated weather application offers a smorgasbord of weather-related data. Once you've provided a zip code or city, Weather Watcher's easy-to-use interface displays detailed weather information, including forecasts, temperature, and expected highs and lows. You can add as many locations as you'd like and switch among them using the system-tray icon.
Automatic updates keep you abreast of the current wind speed, dew point, humidity, barometric pressure, and moon phases. You can display your location's current weather conditions by mousing over the temperature readout in your system tray. Weather Watcher provides extensive customizations, measurement conversions, and numerous maps from all over the globe, and a log for quick reference. You can view weather data with hourly and daily forecasts, and create a keyword list to filter severe weather alerts.
The application also features a wallpaper changer for your desktop using several file formats, including JPEG, GIF, BMP, and HTML. Our only serious complaint is its hefty 19MB memory usage. Overall, though, this informative, customizable program can benefit a wide range of users, and it's free to boot. This is a top pick.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.6.23
"Works great with Vista and older Windows versions!"
Pros: Weather Watcher is 100 percent spyware free and very fast at retrieving your local weather. Just type in your zip code and the current temperature is in your system tray. You can also change the font color and background color of the tray icon, add maps, skins, wallpaper, severe alerts, sounds, and other usefull features. If you want the weather forcast, Weather Watcher is for you. 5 stars and two thumbs up!
Cons: Has a really ugly icon, IMO, but is you set Weather Watcher to startup with Windows, you will never have to click on the icon and can delete it.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.6.23
"Now that it works on "Vista" I like it."
Pros: It's quick and easy to use. It gives me the information I need and works great with "Vista". What I like the most is that it's totally spyware and adware free. It's very customizable and gives me severe weather alerts audibly while running on the system tray. I used "Weather Pulse" for a long time and it to works with "Vista" but I've recently switched to "Weather Watcher" and I'm not sorry I did. . It's free and hard to beat in a weather application.
Cons: What cons? I haven't found any so far.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.6.23
"Very good local, national, and international weather reporting software"
Pros: What I really like about this software is that it is flat out freeware. No ads, and no trying to get you to pay for the higher grade software. You have everything right there in one package, all totally free. I like the way it sets itself up. Basically any person could do it, from the newest computer user to the most experienced. It has just about every forcast map in the world. I followed Hurricane Katrina a couple of years ago with the maps.
Cons: I would say that the only downfall is that it is somewhat low resolution, including the maps.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.6.23
"There are many other weather programs, but I think this is the best, so far."
Pros: I have been a user of this program, and its antecedents, for several years, and have found it to be remarkably accurate. I have seen written, that it gets its information from another program, and I don't care. With Weather Watcher I have never gotten any Ads, Spyware, or Spam, something that can't be said of some of the other programs. It has been, constantly, more accurate than our local TV station; for a while I checked it, daily, and my experience was an accuracy better than 90%, which certainly beats almost any other source of this information. It is easy to optimize for your own needs, and has many opportunities to set it up to your specifications. I could go on and on, but one last point. I liked it so much I contributed to the author, and, believe it or not, I received a personal thank you note from him. I lied, one more last point: I found an improvement I thought would be helpful. He incorporated my suggestion in the next update. I was impressed that he really listened to his program's users.
Cons: One of the cloud icons, is used to represent "rain," and also "cloudy," if I recall correctly. This is not a big deal. It will be hard to find anything really wrong with this excellent program, except to say that those who haven't downloaded it, don't know what they're missing.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.6.23
"Of the three I've tried, Weather Watcher is the hands down best."
Pros: I like Weather Watcher far better than Weather Channel and Weather Bug. Why? Ad-free and mal-ware free. Highly customizeable, so you get the info you want, cleanly, without having to endure stuff that you don't need. That's a rare find in any program, but especially in freeware.
Cons: It is a relatively large program, but I am blessed with two newer machines with 1GB RAM and largeHDs. The options screen has almost too many choices, which may put off less-experienced users, but too many options is much better than too few. I can only say, "Thank you," to the folks that made this first class solution available to the rest of us.
