This updated weather application offers a smorgasbord of weather-related data. Once you've provided a zip code or city, Weather Watcher's easy-to-use interface displays detailed weather information, including forecasts, temperature, and expected highs and lows. You can add as many locations as you'd like and switch among them using the system-tray icon.
Automatic updates keep you abreast of the current wind speed, dew point, humidity, barometric pressure, and moon phases. You can display your location's current weather conditions by mousing over the temperature readout in your system tray. Weather Watcher provides extensive customizations, measurement conversions, and numerous maps from all over the globe, and a log for quick reference. You can view weather data with hourly and daily forecasts, and create a keyword list to filter severe weather alerts.
The application also features a wallpaper changer for your desktop using several file formats, including JPEG, GIF, BMP, and HTML. Our only serious complaint is its hefty 19MB memory usage. Overall, though, this informative, customizable program can benefit a wide range of users, and it's free to boot. This is a top pick.
Publisher's description
From Singer's Creations :View current conditions, hourly forecast, daily forecast, detailed forecast, severe weather alerts, and weather maps for almost any city worldwide. Weather Watcher is a desktop weather station that resides in the system tray and automatically updates the weather at a specified interval of time. Weather Watcher allows you to receive weather updates from almost any city in the world. It gives you the current forecast, including the temperature, a "feels-like" temperature, dew point, humidity, wind, visibility, pressure, and the UV index value.
Weather Watcher can also give you a 10-day forecast that includes the general conditions, temperature highs and lows, and expected UV penetration. The weather measurements can be displayed in metric or English units. Version 5.5e removed 'Address' and 'Port' settings to 'Proxy' options, features an improved uninstaller and bug fixes.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.5e
"adware free, quick and easy to use, handy features"
Pros: uses very little system resources, simple layout, ad-ware free, i've used it for over a year now and not a single problem.
Cons: i've noticed that whoever they have for a meteorologist is often off on his daily forecast, usually by 5-10 degrees

"This is great & it's got fun options to customize."
Pros: I've been looking for a weather product like Weather Watcher, that has no spam attached to it, and also that it is customizable. It has many features to use to customize, that is the font and/or font color and background color against the temperature shown, to name a few. It has a radar map that can be set as wallpaper as well, but I prefer my own wallpaper, and there are sounds you can use to for weather alerts in your area, etc. I also like that you can customize it to show you the temperature, humidity, dewpoint or visibility, sunset, sunrise, wind, barometer, etc in a "balloon" over the temperature shown. It's got lots of great features and you can actually read the temperature clearly from your task bar, whereas the one at the weather channel is impossible to read. I HIGHLY recommend the weather watcher! It's perfect in my book! I've waited a long time for a good weather tool like this.
Cons: I like everything about it! Ten stars if possible for it!

"Excellent program up until recent, when there was a server contact woe"
Pros: Easy to use and install
Variety of different options to specify
Cons: Server problems just started occurring. I loved this problem, up until the point that I realized the temperature it was giving was not quite fitting up to the temperature and conditions I was experiencing outside!

Version: Weather Watcher 5.5e
Pros: I've used Weather Channel's desktop and had to remove it - too bloated. This little utility gets the job done. Great interface.

Version: Weather Watcher 5.5e
Pros: Product design features are robust and support numerous opportunities to customize. This product is helpful if weather significantly impacts your income or personal saftey. I particularly like the flexibility to quickly access multiple maps, the ability to warehouse frequently used maps, and the ability to customize data update frequencies.
Cons: Not many cons to speak of. However, if I split hairs, I have two complaints:
1) It is difficult to quickly turn off the desk-top mapping function and preserve my previous desktop format. Fortunately, there are other mapping utilities that users should focus on and I have worked around the problem easily.
2) The source of the software's weather information, particulalrly maps, is not updated frequently enough. I would value the ability to chose other sources for weather data, particularly original sources for weather information (e.g. NOAA, orbital satelites, etc.) For average users, this is not a concern. However, if your wallet or home are about to get wiped out by the next weather event, this issue could prove significant.
