While not the most glamorous of applications, WS_FTP comes loaded with professional-minded features for serious file-transfer tasks. New for version 2007 are improved protocols for portable drives and integrated searches with Google, Copernic and Windows.
The more refined XP-style look found in the 9.0 release remains intact, but the sheer number of features makes it confusing and difficult to execute simple tasks. To the app's credit, it does give you several options for customizing the interface to your specific tastes, and drag-and-drop functionality makes file transfers intuitive. We like WS_FTP's exceptional image-handling capabilities. The included thumbnail previews are nice, as is Active Edit, which lets you edit and remote images and other document types in a third-party app. Though the preview tool is convenient, it still stumbles on some formats such as Flash.
In addition to 256-bit encryption, the program also supports HTTP and HTTPS transfers, as well as SOCKS 4.0 and 5.0 proxies. You also get the ability to manage multiple-client SSL certificates. Other notable features include e-mail notifications, and "workspaces", which let you recall specific views of different servers. Overall, WS_FTP Professional is a feature-wealthy application that will indulge power users. Newbies should check out the leaner and cheaper WS_FTP Home edition.

Pros: Good solid FTP program. We ended up getting several copies for our developers. Never had any problems with this over the years.

"Excellent file-transfer program. I recommend this application."
Pros: WS_FTP Professional 2006 is packed with professional-grade features for serious file-transfer tasks. The new ability to zip files easily with "compression mode" and secure 256-bit encryption were added in WS_FTP Professional 2006. WS_FTP Professional 2006's design is intuitive and user-friendly. The interface is simple and easy to get accustomed with. I particularly liked WS_FTP Professional 2006's improved image-handling abilities, like thumbnail previews and Active Edit. WS_FTP Professional 2006 is a very good program for power users who need the ability to perform serious file-transfer tasks.
Cons: The preview tool seems to hiccup when previewing flash files. I recommend that newbies use WS_FTP Home edition.

Pros: for me all work fine and powerfull. the best i tried. i dont understand poor rewiews on this site and 4 tumbs of cnet editor's

"Still the best after so many years"
Pros: It is extremely easy to use. I have an service agreement for tech support, which allow me to get any issue i may have resolved quickly.
Cons: It does not support Keyboard Authentication for SSH connections.

Pros: It does the job.
Cons: 1. They offered a refresh of the same product a month after I bought it, without telling me I had to buy another license.
2. The user interface is clumsy when dealing with multiple sites.
