Formerly the feature-rich Azureus, Vuze takes Azureus' BitTorrent foundation and builds on top of it a network for video discovery and user-created video publishing tied together by social networking.
From XML torrent options to IP filters, firewall tests to UPnP plug-ins to baked-in social networking, Vuze isn't breaking new ground--the original BitTorrent client has gone this path, too--but it is doing it in an innovative and attractive way. When you install the program, you're faced with an interface that will be instantly familiar to iTunes users. In providing a general overview of their torrents and media playback controls, the new layout emphasizes user-initiated searches.
The Advanced tab has been replaced by My Library. The old Azureus is now completely gone, but because of the demands of users, Vuze 4.0 is much closer to the intent of its progenitor than Vuze 3.1 was. A simple, three-step guide that launches when you start Vuze helps you get acclimatized to the new Vuze. There's still work to be done: memory usage is up around 100MB, and although you can set up private trackers, you can't customize the search box. People new to torrenting or only interested in sharing media files might appreciate this visually active approach.

"great torrent app but installs with junk"

- You get to see many details about the torrents
- You can control which files are downloaded first
- you can see the % of each individual fileCons
- All kinds of junk gets installed even thought I declined their install.
- It changes your home page to yahoo on every browser without asking.
- I had to change all my browsers settings back to the way they where and uninstall the crap plugins it installed.Summary
I really liked it, I used it when it was called Azureus back in the day, the app is really good and I like using it over any other torrent app because of the control you get. I'm not happy with the crap they install with it, it just makes it feel like crapware more than anything else.

Too many symbols eg smiley faces with no help to fix problems eg red smiley. No guidelines as to file extensions, eg zipped files or FLAC etc. Error messages unable to find a fix for.
Summary
As a beginner in the P2P world I tried to find out information from the support system, the forum and plain old Help - nothing was availabe - as a beginner with torrent files i found the lack of explanations to much to cope with. I downloaded it - was not asked to sign in, tried several times to download songs - managed a few - and then was told there was an error with no explanation as to how to fix it. Most of the songs eiother didnt play becasue of the error. it just became too complex to work out.

For such a high-rated product, it sure didn't live up to my expectations.
The program is bloated with unnecessary features, downloads rarely came through or wouldn't even start, the program kept locking up my system or would just stop working if I left it on for more than an hour.
Other pet peeves:
- It wouldn't remember the settings I gave it
- It refused to start what I wanted it to start with
- Annoying messages hat told me the program crashed after system reboot
- The search feature gave me too little information and the results were poor
Pretty much anything I want from a torrent client was absent in Vuze/Azureus and everything I didn't need WAS in it. The idea of an all-in-one torrent client sounds nice on paper, but in practice, it fails. -
