CNET Editors' review
With a collection of shortcut buttons to frequently-used system configurations, Useful Launcher allows users to quickly control common desktop functions. However, the System Information feature did not work properly in our tests.
The freeware has a neatly designed interface, with buttons that represent each shortcut. Each button is clearly labeled so you can easily identify the purpose of each shortcut, from terminating a running application to finding common Windows accessories (Command prompt, Control Panel, Windows Explorer) and shutdown operations. You also can set different transparency levels for each window and your taskbar.
Useful Launcher was quick and effective in accessing different system configurations. Other useful options include the ability to hide desktop icons, and whole screen capturing. We did hit a couple of snags. Accessing the System Information feature prompted an error that forcibly terminated the application during our evaluation. Missing is a hot key feature for quick access to the application from the system tray. Even so, any users will surely appreciate the usefulness of this freeware.
