Virtual desktops are a great way to expand your work space beyond your monitor. Unfortunately, UrVirtualDesktops does a very poor job implementing the concept. The demo version creates three separate virtual desktops, accessible through a floating toolbar (but not through hot keys or a system-tray icon). You can open a different set of applications in each, but because the desktops are noncontiguous, you can't drag application windows from one to another. Each virtual desktop takes a hefty 4MB of system memory--but instability is the biggest problem. When you exit the program from one desktop, applications you've opened on the others become inaccessible (though they remain in memory and reappear if you restart the program). Once, we nearly lost all our work on the main desktop. We couldn't call up the Windows Task Manager, nor would UrVirtualDesktops restart so we could switch back. Steer clear of this software for now.Publisher's description
From Urban Research :The UrVirtualDesktops utility allows you to create virtual desktops on Windows XP and above. A virtual desktop is a way to leverage the operating system to provide additional screen space for applications and windows. Each desktop has its own start bar and desktop area, allowing for clean separation of applications and more manageable window space.
