This software installed cleanly and I find the overall effect on the appearance of OS X to be subtly but significantly improved. The most noticeable changes are I find is that Carbon apps (like Office 2004) now smoothly integrate with the newest Cocao apps. All the open windows share the same appearance and UI, which makes for a more pleasant and 'clean' experience when using many apps and windows.

    And it's free :)

It works, and it didnt before, so that's good. It also isnt a resource hog like Shapeshifter is/ can be. I am not sure it is an improvement over the normal ones, but it's not bad, and it is certainly a matter of taste. And it is unified. O_O

    Good job.

    "The simplest solution, period."

    Summary

There are two things that rank high on my list of unimportant but frustrating annoyances with OS X: it's near-complete lack of user interface customization and the inconsistency of the one we're stuck with.

For a while I have been trying to use Shapeshifter to solve both these problems, but anyone who's used it will tell you it can sometimes end up just being more frustrating (what gets me: the text of the contextual and toolbar menus in Path Finder stay black no matter what but the background will change; this means any dark-menued theme will render Path Finder's menus nearly unusable).

Uno doesn't offer the customization available with Shapeshifter, but it basically completely solves Tiger's UI inconsitencies. And even though I can't make my screen entirely black (to feel old-school, of course), "Uno Shade" is much easier on my eyes and my OCD than Aqua's blaring white and the chintz of brushed metal.

Apple, Apple, Apple. When will you learn? It's one thing to have all these cool products and software, but let's not forget what made Apple cool in the first place. THE USER INTERFACE!

This fantastic application wouldn't be needed if you could just stick to one interface theme instead of the absolute mess you've made of your OS. Jeez, talk about inconsistent branding. Don't you people realise that your OS interface and applications are also part of your brand?

I highly recommend this application to anyone who likes consistency in their computing experience.

Oi! Jobs... Whilst you've been putting all your energies into building extensions, like iPod, AppleTV, etc., the cowboys have been in and trashed your interior decorating. This fine app does a great job at covering the shoddy and botched DIY interface look OSX has taken on. Will Leopard show further degenerative signs of inconsiderate jerry-builders when the scaffold comes off?... I wonder. Consistent system-wide themes, Apple, can you manage that?
