    "My favorite Twitter client... ruined"

    February 13, 2012  |   By GalaxyFox

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

-No longer uses Adobe AIR so it uses less system resources.
-Doesn't replace the old version so I can still use it.

    Cons

-Huge waste of screen space. Why can't there be a scrollbar like there used to be? Why are we forced to 3 columns with a giant blank space on the side?
    -Most social network integrations removed.
-Forced to use Twitter's new retweets.
-Simply an HTML5 app wrapped in a window (including the notifications). Developers were ridiculously lazy here.
-Managing multiple accounts is a mess.
    -Nearly no settings to customize.
    -No auto completion of usernames.

    Summary

TweetDeck 0.38.2 and earlier was my favorite Twitter client. With this new release, Twitter has destroyed it. Fortunately, it installs independently from the old AIR version, so I can still run the old version (which I currently still do).

The Cons list goes on and on. Twitter clearly doesn't want people to use other apps besides their website.

If you want to use TweetDeck, find the old AIR version somewhere. Many non-official sources are still offering it. It currently still works until Twitter does something to their API to break it (and I wouldn't be surprised if they do something to break the old TweetDeck).

So thank you Twitter, for ruining one of the best Twitter apps ever created.

Pros? Pros? Pros? We got no stinking pros!

    Cons

    "Version 1.2? Bring back 0.38!"

    February 6, 2012  |   By partychancer

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

    None. Absolutely None.

    Cons

Everything decent about Tweetdeck has been rendered unusable. I've tried to persevere with 1.2 for a month, but it's like since being taken over by the Twitter company, Tweetdeck have deliberately 'bricked' their software. Everything about it is awful compared to version 0.38, which I'm now going back to.

    Summary

    Bring back version 0.38!

"Some idiot actually thought this was a good idea."

    February 5, 2012  |   By minton06hd

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

-It won't give you a virus.
-Decreases the likelihood of getting fired from work for using Twitter, since it sucks so hard that you won't spend any time on it.
-Helps prevent drunk tweeting, because it's so ridiculous to use that it's a challenge to do while sober, let alone while drunk.
    -Uses ethanol.

    Cons

-Downloads successfully, which means you are able to actually use the piece of crap.
-Anonymous hasn't crashed the site yet.
-Product is tested on animals. This may explain why there aren't as many dogs in my neighborhood, since most of them, after being subjected to the mind-numbing ***-ness that is Tweetdeck 1.2, immediately ran onto the interstate.
    -Causes anal leakage.

    Summary

If old Tweetdeck was a 70" hi-def LCD Internet-capable flat panel TV, complete with smartphone-compatible all-in-one remote and user-defined programming, then Tweetdeck 1.2 is a black-and-white 13" tube tv that shows "The Paul Reiser Show" in a constant loop, and shocks you if you try to change the channel. It sucks out loud. Captured war criminals were initially allowed to use Tweetdeck 1.2 while in prison, but this practice was quickly stopped, as the rules of the Geneva Convention prohibit inhumane treatment of prisoners.

"Tweetdeck 1.2 released January 2012 is Awful"

    February 5, 2012  |   By lovemydress

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

    There are no pros, really.

    Cons

    * Can't tweet more than one person easily like before, have to manually type any additional twitter ID into a tweet
    * no auto Twitter-address recognition
    * many more clicks to get to info you want
    * preferences - there are none?
    * DMs are a total faff now - you used to be easily able to DM someone from your DM column, now DMs are grouped by the tweeter you are DMing, so you click on that tweeter to see all your DMS to them - but have to exit that view to actually send them a new DM as there is some kind of bug in the system.

    Summary

Utterly can't abide it, it's taken a massive step back in terms of development.

I've reverted to version 1.1 and hope another developer comes up with something better soon.

It is a frustrating and unrewarding experience using this software.

    "Ruined! WHY?!"

    February 3, 2012  |   By CapableManager

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

    loads faster

    Cons

1 - loss of the rollovers on profile pics mean you have to click more to get to an action - especially block and report, or follow.
2 - no new followers column - makes you inadvertently ignorant as you can't quickly 'follow' people who follow you
3 - defined columns per screen - you can't scroll through you columns, it's all or nothing

    Summary

I'm so frickin' angry - I lecture on social media to hundreds of new business men and women and have heavily incorporated tweetdeck in to management of social media. Now it feels as though we have gone back in time to a less efficeient and effective time. They had a fantastic product which is effectively ruined and as homogenous with every other mainstream product out there. FAIL!

    January 27, 2012  |   By anklesmd

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

    looks the same
    no adobe air

    Cons

    can't have single column
must have 3 columns or more

    Summary

this was a great tool. I'm keeping the Adobe Air as long as I can get logged into it. I want a single column not a full page view. Such a basic thing ...

    "Ultimate Downgrade!"

    January 22, 2012  |   By LouisEdmund

    Version: TweetDeck 1.2

    Pros

    I don't see any.

    Cons

There is no option to add other Social Media accounts like LinkedIn, etc. This is a serious shortcoming!

    Summary

Social Media is rapidly advancing. This new Tweet Deck has jumped back to the Stone Age. Why?
